James = owner was very accomodating as we arrived late - keys were in place so just for us to climb the stairs to our room nr 9 - great view, comfortable bed, clean and good amineties! Staff (spanish we think) were helpful and breakfast (english + assortments of cereals, yoghurts, tea, coffee and vegetarian options) all excellent! We will stay here again on our next visit to Brighton! Close proximity to beach, shops and churchill sq. Recommended!

I stayed here on 21st June for 1 night and thought the hotel itself was lovely. After booking through a third party site I received an email from James asking for a contact number and what time I was due arrive (something that I feel shows great customer service from the off). Due to traffic I was running late but James called me to make sure I was ok and to see what time I arrived. James was very friendly when i arrived and I was checked in quickly and explained where my room was (on the top floor). The hotel is a lovely quaint looking place, with some real character and well looked after. My room was spotless and for a single was spacious with an en suite - overall a very comfortable bed and plenty of tea and coffee to hand. It is close to everything that you could need in Brighton and rooms on the front have a lovely view of the Regency Square park and West Pier. I had an enjoyable stay and being a solo traveller felt very safe staying here. I didn't have breakfast but did notice that this included when you book direct with the hotel, something that I will be looking to do next time. I would recommend to anyone travelling to Brighton for a night or longer and will certainly be looking to stay again.

Terrible experience at the Regency. Website completely misrepresents what is actually a ropey old guest house with some tired kitsch rooms.
Completely overpriced. This hotel is lazily trading on location alone and making no effort to fix things that have been brought to it's attention by previous guests.
Room dirty, manager inordinately rude when challenged. I can only imagine he has asked friends and family to write the curiously positive reviews that seem to appear at regular intervals on this site.
My only advice is to look elsewhere as you will find much nicer places in the city for less money.

We stayed at The Regency Hotel for 1 night on 10th June. We received a warm and friendly welcome from James. He showed us to our room (# 3) which was clean, spacious and beautifully furnished & decorated. It offered a huge 4 poster bed and a balcony which we enjoyed sitting out on - as the weather was warm and sunny.

The room offers views over Regency Square and down to the sea. Restaurants, shops etc. are all close at hand. We always love dining in The Vineyard Restaurant in Preston Street - just round the corner from The Regency.

The room - and bathroom - at The Regency offered everything we needed. There were little extra such as toiletries in the bathroom. And as well as free tea & coffee making facilities in the room there were snacks & drinks at an additional cost of £1 each if you wanted them - a nice touch.

We didn't book breakfast as we were having an early lunch out.

All in all, it was a perfect stay and we'll definitely return.

Room Tip: Room # 3 is spacious and with a balcony offering view over Regency Square and down to the sea.

Friendly satff, nice guest house, unique decoration, worth the visit; a "kitsch" touch.

Let me give you a useful tip: Book your room directly on the Hotel website, instead of doing it on one of those big operator sites, they promise you the best value, but if you book directly at the hotel, you'll earn your free breakfasts during your stay.

Room Tip: Quiet location, especially with "town view". Spotless, nice and friendly staff, warm welc...

My lovely husband booked 3 nights at this hotel as a surprise for our wedding anniversary :) so that we could go to the Brighton Fringe. Very warm welcome from James & very helpful staff. Room 3 was divine; fabulously decorated, enormous 4 poster bed that was so comfortable, comfy chairs to sit at the open balcony window overlooking a 'green' and west pier. It included all the usual toiletries, hairdryer etc. and extra tea/coffee/milk supplies were readily available. Yes we had to wait for hot water to come through but only a minute or so & note re turning on tap before shower was clear. Breakfast well cooked & plenty of it. Easy walking distance from town but far enough away to be quiet. Car parking available at Regency Parking behind hotel at £12 / 24hours.. bookable in advance. Fantastic hotel.. the 'fringe' was great too
