I walk down to Brighton Pier and Beachfront regularly on frequent visits to UK. From springtime on, there are always great numbers of visitors from the continent. The atmosphere is international and convivial. The pier itself is a bit over-the-top touristy and a huge focal point especially on weekends. But you've got almost five miles of beachfront walking to enjoy with a great mix of attractions and some of the best people-watching in England. It's all free unless you want to take the carnival rides on the pier or eat at one of the numberless food venues.

It's a pier, it's by and in the sea, it sells freshly cooked doughnuts - what's not to like? Great views of Brighton too.
