The Chattri makes for a lovely walk if you only have a couple of hours to spare. The views back across brighton particualrly as the sun starts the set is lovely. The memorial itself is interesting and really very beautiful.

Its a long walk or cycle to the Chattri as its set right in the middle of the hills on the south downs ner Brighton. I found it to be peaceful but meloncholic after all its a memorail to the Indian soldiers who were cremated here that had passed away whilst at the royal pavillion when it was being used as a hospital during the war. A peaceful place, well kept and with nice views, looking back down towards Brighton.

A pleasant day's walking on the South Downs from the Jack & Jill windmills to the Chattri monument (to Indian troops killed in the first world war) then on to Patcham and return. Mostly gentle walking, generally well signposted, note one field on the route had rather docile cows in it, and we lost our way at one point with a 45 minute detour. The monument itself was an interesting aspect of local history, had an informative display board and the grounds were well looked after, though the monument surround could do with a clean. It's not that well signposted though.

Here were WWI soldiers cremated in the open air. This is not an 'attraction' - it's along and arduous trip from central Brighton. Don't put this on your list of things to do if you've come for a beach holiday. If you like walking, if you like downland, if you like history - all three things are here. A place for reflection.

Came across Chattri whilst out running on the south downs. Amazing views of Brighton and informative history board. Definitely worth a visit!
