“Good but depends on the room you get”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 March 2013

I have stayed here once before and had a lovely room but last time I stayed here the room I got was awful, it was directly next to a club and being on the first floor it was awfully loud and really pokey little room. Was really dissapointed.

My friend and I stayed here last weekend (1st-3rd march) in a twin room. Rooms were massive – although we had one double and one single so be prepared to nab it first! Bathrooms were nice and had everything we needed. A negative to the rooms was that ours backed onto a street which was full of noisy bars & clubs – they could work a little better to prevent the noise banging through the windows until 3am, but we got used to it.

The staff were really nice at check-in, the restaurant and down at the heath centre. The pool was good – although the pictures on the website do use the mirrors to make it appear bigger! The sauna was interesting but the steam room wasn’t working so we didn’t get chance to try that. The gym looked good but we didn’t use it. We tried to book massages on the day but unfortunately they were almost fully booked so I’d recommend booking ahead of time if staying over a weekend.

Breakfast was plentiful – one side is a cooked breakfast with eggs, fried bread, bacon, sausage, beans & tomatoes. This was mostly average to good – the eggs were rubbery though so give them a miss, and the fried bread tasted of old oil to me – but I’m not usually a fan. The other side had plenty of cereals, croissants, toast, jam, butter, fruit, juice etc.

Location was perfect – a short walk to the pier and steps away from a casino if that’s your thing. Walking in the other direction takes you straight to the lanes and a little further for the main shopping area, mall etc but the whole town centre is easily walkable from there.

Overall it was a nice hotel for the price and we would stay there again.

Room Tip: Try to avoid the left side of the building (from walking in) as this is the street facing the clubs...

Stayed for 2 nights. The hotel is in a great location. The lanes are within 5 minutes walk. Train station only 10/15 minutes walk. Next to the pier
The double room was a good size, the bedroom and ensuite were clean and the linen and towels were crisp white.
The only small gripe relates to the Wi-fi which did not seem to be available beyond the reception area.
Would definitely return for the location alone.

Stayed here on a Saturday night with my two daughters (age 6 and 4). They loved the pool and the proximity to the beach and pier. Staff were friendly and helpful without exception. Great stay, would definitely come back.

We were sold one by the "spa hotel" classification, showing a 50m2 pool and supposedly best leisure centre, full English, incredible "Bar & Bistrot"...well who in the world would know what size is a pool of 50m2? turns out to be a very small 5x10m pool, an old dark gym and a very slow service at the restaurant. So slow that we waited 1hr for the main to come and therefore missed the deadline time to be able to order desert...without mentioning that the waiter "forgot" to apply the marketing-trap 10& Food&Beverage at the time of paying the bill...Otherwise pretty good location and view.

Just spent 2 nights in twin room with sea view which was worth paying extra for as all other rooms over looked the town where there were packed bars and nightclubs with police outside. The main road wasnt noisy and the room was fine with very comfy beds and pillows. Sadly the bathroom let it down as it was so tiny with no towel rails at all and little space to move or put your toiletries, also a little grubby. The staff were helpful although our tea bags etc were not replenished and the kettle leaked so badly that it was dangerous.Breakfast was good although we did have to wait this morning for a table. Brighton is fab and the position of the hotel is brilliant for everything. The pool area was a huge disappointment as it was dirty and you had to walk through the gym to get to cold pokey changing rooms and further to the sauna. The steam room was out of order. This is certainly not a spa hotel! still enjoyed ourselves but would probably not return to this hotel.

We stayed mid week for one night in a double room no. 104 which was first floor over looking the sea.
The hotel is seconds from the pier on the main road and near the lanes.
The hotel doesn't have parking, but we were very impressed by the lanes car park just past the hotel, its monitored by sensors and once in and parked, you can't enter the car park again without your ticket, which gives you a sense of security.
The hotel is minutes away and we were met with friendly reception staff who offered us a local map, and a detailed description of all that was available to us during our stay.
Our double room was on two levels which was different but a nice touch, spacious with high ceilings and all the amenities. Clean sheets, tea and coffee facilities and amazingly they had mugs for the drinks and not them daft cups that can't hold enough liquid to quench the smallest thirst! The bathroom was spacious, clean and came with another surprise, big bath sheets and not the pathetic towels the size of flannels, but ones that actually covered you entirely!
The view was gorgeous, the pier quite visible and a calming sea as far as the eyes could view.
The pool is well worth a visit, as you may be lucky to have the whole pool to yourself like us, the sauna we tried but I couldn't stand it for long, doesn't mean it wasn't good, the staff are friendly and give you towels when you enter, so you can save your big towels for later.
The bar and bistro do nice cocktails, 2 for 7 pound, but I didn't like the mojito, too much like minty mouthwash, however the key west cooler was delicious.
The breakfast in the morning was yum, large food warmers held lovely delights such as sausages, bacon, beans, fried bread, scrambled eggs and tomatoes which you helped yourself too, then there's toast, juices, cereal, croissants, yoghurt and fresh fruit, with tea and coffee served. All tasty, and we rolled out of there completely full and satisfied.
Our stay was great and we are due to return in November.
The hotel was next to all the shops, the pier and still within walking distance of the marina and other Brighton sights.
For the price of one night, for all the amenities and available facilities, for the surrounding sights and sounds or just for the view out of our window, we would very much recommend a stay here without hesitation.
Thank you for reading this looooong review, but I like to cover every aspect of a great stay, and give credit where credit is due
