We booked the Queens hotel at the last minute as we were due to bring our caravan down for a few days but due to the weather we changed our minds. Everyone was very friendly on arrival and check in was very quick. We were given room 112 which was fine to start with but around about 11pm the nightclub across the alley from our window got very noisy and at 1.30am we had had enough so rang down to reception for assistance. We were told the club closed at about 3pm and were very sympathetic to our complaint, so I asked could we be moved in the morning as this being a Thursday night, Friday was bound to be noisier. We were told that it was very likely that we could be, and would we like some ear plugs for the remainder of that evening. I guess it's not the first complaint they have had regarding noise. We said we did and they were sent straight up. I have to say although not ideal, they worked a treat. The next morning we were moved to a sea view room which we were more than happy with. The staff here are really friendly and helpful, and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast is good and once again the staff in the restaurant and bar were great. We would definitely stay here again as it is in an excellent location and once we had a quieter room, very comfortable.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front are quieter with a great view

My new wife and I recently spent a few days here on a mini break just after our wedding. It is a lovely hotel with very friendly staff and has great sea view rooms. We booked this hotel through a late deal hotel booking website. The description was accurate to that given and we were pleasantly surprised when we got there to see this, made even better with a surprise bottle of wine we were welcomed by in our room after telling them it was a booking for a 'mini honeymoon'. Which was a very nice touch considering we only requested a room with a sea view.

As with the rest of our experience at this hotel the breakfast was outstanding. The only problem we found was with parking. However £7 for the day 200m down the road was sufficient for me.

A great central location just across from the pier and also just on the back of the lanes and the city centre. We would definitely return.

Thank you for your review on TripAdvisor, and also of course , congratulations on your recent marriage!
It is great to see that everything met with your expectations over your visit with us , and great to see that you found our team of staff here to be so friendly.
I fully understand your comments about Brighton parking , and it sounds to me like you made a sensible move by parking slightly down the seafront , at a less expensive rate than the NCP at the city centre.
Perhaps we might see you both back next year for your anniversary !

I have stayed in hundreds of hotels all over the world and had to come home to dear old Brighton, in order to experience the very worst of hotels; this dump makes faulty towers look like Claridge’s. I really cannot supply a full review of all the facilities of the hotel, as I did not stay for the two nights which I had booked but for the first time in fifty years of travelling, I booked out soon after arrival.

First impressions are very important and the first impression of the Queen’s was not good. The reception area is dreary, tired, dirty and pervaded by the musty smell of decay. The furniture is in terrible condition, the vinyl chair covers have worn patches and are torn; the receptionist, surly and unhelpful. I cannot believe that any reviewer on Trip Advisor would rate this hotel any better than ‘terrible’; they must have very different standards to me and much lower expectations.

There is no porter service at this so called 4 star establishment and we had to drag our luggage up and down several flights of steps in order to access the lift, which was also dirty. One look at the dingy, grey colour of the once white duvet cover, the worn and grubby carpet, the cheap, nasty furniture and fittings and once again, worn out chairs with soiled and torn covers. This was a room in which no one would want to spend a night. We dragged our luggage back to the reception, demanded a refund and moved immediately to the Grand.

Do not stay at the Queen’s, Brighton, under any circumstances. This is an establishment which brings the whole hotel industry in the UK into disrepute; what must overseas visitors think of our country when they arrive at a dump like this? I only hope that it will soon change hands, so that it may benefit from refurbishment under new management.

Thank you for your review on TripAdvisor.
I was sorry to see that you were disappointed with our hotel , and decided not to stay with us.
I can see from your review that you thought we are a four star hotel , but we are only a three star hotel , and do not provide certain four star services such as porters for luggage etc.

I had booked this hotel through the internet and was pleasantly surprised at how it matched the information given on the website. The rooms were spacious enough. The breakfast was great. Good variety and they even let me take a tray of breakfast goodies up to my husband in our room as he wasn't feeling well. Great location! It is near the Brighton pier and the lanes. Close to a shopping centre and restaurants. Bathroom was the only downfall. Would definitely stay here again.

We had booked to stay elsewhere &, disappointed on arrival, took a wander & found the queens hotel. The front office manager Tracey Rooke took us to see a standard & superior sea view room & was very friendly & helpful. All the staff were amiable & efficient. The breakfast was good & though very busy they managed to get everyone seated fairly quickly & the food was good. The gym was well equipped, the pool was warm & the changing rooms clean.

Right by the pier & the Lanes, a great sea view & reasonable prices, would definitely stay again & recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: The superior sea view rooms were much bigger, did have a great view & despite being right on the...

We have stayed at The Queens on many occasions over the years. That fact alone says that we must like it! But why?

The staff are always very good, and helpful: from booking to check-in to service at the bar. It's really worth paying for the sea view rooms, the location is unparalleled in Brighton. The suites (in particular the Tower ones) offer a fantastic 180 degree panorama, while you are 3 minutes walk from a fantastic selection of restaurants.

The rooms are nice and clean, the beds comfortable, the breakfast perfectly acceptable.

Now there are issues, and these are often mentioned in reviews. Much of the furniture is showing its age. Things such as tables, both in No. 1 Bar and Bistro and in the rooms, could quite easily be improved by a touch of stripping and polishing. There are also issues with regards to joins and cracks in the rooms as well.

I do, however, sympathise with the Management. The very specific location of this particular hotel, it juts out unlike its next door neighbours, means that it absolutely takes a pummeling in bad weather, and the storms of the past few weeks must have caused considerable damage. The maintenance bill must be enormous.

So, overall, we will continue to stay at The Queens. "Our" hotel in London by-the-Sea.

Thank you for your review on TripAdvisor.
One of the many great aspects of working at The Queens Hotel , is the amount of regular guests such as yourself who return time and time again.
It is great to see your feedback about the staff , and of course to read that you find it such great value, and we look forward to your continued custom.

We stayed between Christmas and New Year during the bad weather and expected to experience some noise due to rain and wind but not think we would feel like we were sleeping in a night club. Our room was on the right hand side as you look at the hotel from the front, down the side of the alley. The room was fine but when we went to bed about midnight we could hear people talking in the alley below and music from the nightclub in the alley. In the morning I asked if we could be moved to a quieter room and we were moved and told this room had better sound proofing, however the room was fine when we left to go out for the evening but when we returned and went to bed the music from the club was so loud we thought we were in the club partying, we might has well have been as we could not sleep. I began to think that the receptionist who had moved us was having a laugh at our expense but when I complained to reception I was told that they thought this was a quieter room, obviously they had had no other complaints from anyone else who had stayed on this side of the hotel, me thinks not . Also as the noise was from outside the hotel it was not their responsibility, nice one.
Anyway as far as the rest of the stay there were no issues the staff were polite and the breakfast was fine. Some parts could do with a facelift but it would have been value for the money but for no sleep. We will not stay there again and will spend the extra to stay next door at the Thistle.
So make sure you check where you room is if you want to sleep, if you want to party all night don’t worry you will love it.
Also the Jellyfish is not real what a disappointment.

Room Tip: rooms on right side as you look at the hotel very noisey
