“Beautiful view”
Reviewed 27 June 2014

Although the building is old I was pleasantly surprised when we entered. The reception was very nice and the staff were very helpful.because all the sea-view rooms were booked for that night we were promised a transfer the next day. The double room was clean and tidy as was the bathroom. It was a little noisy throughout the night but once the windows were closed it was fine.the next day as promised we were shifted and believe me it was well worth the little extra. The view from the window was amazing. The breakfasts were good with your own choice of eggs and the usual fruits and cereals and pastries.the car was left in the car park which was secure and more feasible as there is no free parking anywhere in Brighton. It cost us £20 per 24 hrs which we thought was quite reasonable.all in all we had a brilliant time.Thank you Queens!

Room Tip: Choose a sea view room it's well worth it

On our first visit to Brighton in thirty years we booked the Queens as a well known hotel in a great location. The photos and description of the rooms looked like the the sort of high end hotel we look for and the price of £195 reflected this conviction. The reality could not be further from the truth, in fact the location was the only plus. The hotel reception area is large and airy but is generally tired. The lifts and corridors are worse, down right shabby and grubby. The room standard double was tiny and stuffy with a very tired bathroom in poor repair. The wifi was very weak in the bedroom. Breakfast service was a joke, a buffet and warm counter which the economy chains would have been ashamed to offer. How it survives next door to the Thistle and round the corner to from La De Vin can only be due to new business they cannot possibly get repeat business. Appaling.

Room Tip: Only You hotel in Madrid is excellent and great value, there may be others in this group.

Spent a night here recently and thought the hotel was well presented, easy to find, staff were accommodating and friendly and the room was one of the largest hotel rooms I have ever stayed in. The view was of Brighton Pier straight out to sea. The beds were comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and it was well-worth the money. They don't have a hotel car park, but there is one very nearby in the next hotel, and they have a deal on with this hotel, so the rate is reduced to a flat rate. If you are in Brighton, then I would recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: You have to have one on the sea front.

Great location and we had a great price too. Check parking charges as we paid 20 GBP for 24 hours, which meant we could have stayed at the hotel next door where we parked, parking was free.
The pool was tiny!, again had we known, we could have stayed next door, which also had better facilities.
The staff were very friendly

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room. but you also need to arrive early to secure the quiet room!

Thank you for your review on TripAdvisor.
Im delighted to see that you had an enjoyable stay , and found our staff to have been friendly. I should however clarify that our neighbouring hotel only offer their guests the same discounted rate for parking that they offer our guests , so the good news there is that you enjoyed the same preferential parking rate by staying with us.

The room was clean and spacious and I had a good sea view. That's where it ended!
There is no carpark, but you can park after 4pm in the hotel next door at £10 per night!
The restaurant was dirty with tables that even when wiped were no better. And the food wasnt great. Maybe thats why there was only the three tables dining on two nights!
The "spa" in the basement was a strange setup, where you had to walk from the changing room through the gym to get to the pool, then wet through the gym to get to the sauna and then back to the changing room! Though the staff here were very friendly.

Room Tip: No carpark so park in Thistle net door after 4pm for £10.

Great location in terms of access to Lanes, Pier & beach but 1st floor sea view room positioned above busy bar (which carried on until all the hen & stag parties had consumed enough shots) and opposite busy crossing (good for people watching I'll admit).

This hotel is looking very tired, scuffed and was not the cleanest. Lift floors dirty, paintwork and decour similar to that of a poor 3 star. Bath had a few suspect looking (short) hairs in it and plastic cups in bathroom very low budget. Furniture in room was chipped and although lots of wardrobe space, these were nasty plain MDF doors that didn't close well.

All this very bearable for 1 night but in no way was the price paid a reflection of the quality of the surroundings, which leaves a bit of a bad taste.

The redeeming feature of The Queens is that the staff were friendly, smiling and looked like they wanted to be there. Unfortunately, not enough to make me want to go back, not even for £90 a night!

Room Tip: Don't have a 1st floor room with a sea view is my advice but then I'm not sure how you can c...

My mother and I stayed here for a night on a Friday night in Brighton for about £110. Overall, we had an enjoyable stay and I would rate the hotel as very good.

In terms of location, it is excellent, being sited right next to the pier and beach. If you are arriving into Brighton by coach (eg National Express), the coach bay is right at the street behind the hotel. The Hotel is also about a 15-20 min stroll to the shopping area where Primark, and other brands are located. It is also near the bus-stop where we took a bus out to visit the White Cliffs. Restaurants are also available around.

In terms of service, it was good. The gentleman at the front desk was very patient and friendly. He was able to guide me where to go around the hotel as well as provide me detailed directions on how to get to the white cliffs.

In terms of the room, I had a double room where there was a small chandelier with rather high ceilings. I was on the 1st floor facing the back so there wasn’t much of a view but it was ok. There was a TV, hairdryer, hot water kettle, and wifi works well throughout the hotel.

We stayed a night on a Friday night, at times we could hear night revellers on the streets but they weren’t too rowdy.

There is also a heated swimming pool and gym located at the hotel. My mother and I used the swimming pool which was nice. The swimming pool is not large but you could still get a few small laps done. I understand that non-guests can also avail themselves to the swimming pool by paying a small free (£5 per pax if I am not wrong).

We had the breakfast at the hotel which had a simple spread of hot food eg scrambled eggs, sausages, baked beans (if I don’t remember wrongly). There was also a selection of fruits, cereal, pastries and bread available.

Overall, it was a very enjoyable stay for us.
