We ran into this restaurant - literally, out of the torrential rain - but what a find!
The staff were friendly & as this was a very wet monday evening, they had no problem finding a table for us.
As we looked around, it was strange to see lots of what can only be described as "opera box" style booths which gave a surreal feel to the restaurant, especially as they were on varying levels.
Our drinks came quickly whilst we looked over the menu & made our choices.
Once our order was taken, there was only a reasonable wait before our starters were served & it was whilst we enjoyed these that a young man in evening suit started to sing from table to table.
This was most unexpected but enjoyable & totally suited to the surroundings.
The young man's voice was pleasant & powerful but his recollection of the words of the songs was sometimes lacking although this only added to our enjoyment!
Our main courses arrived & were excellent & together with the starters, sated our appetites although we did enjoy a couple more drinks, taking in the singing & atmosphere.
Great find, great food. Allied to the quirky atmosphere & unexpected cabaret, we would thoroughly recommend this restaurant because or bill was surprisingly small.
We will return!

I've eaten at Little Bay three times now - I've always liked the place but always left feeling a bit deflated, as if I was expecting more.

This visit was no different. We arrived at 8 for our booked table and were seated nicely. After ordering our starters, we waited until 9:10 to actually get them (that's over an hour for service, folks.)

The food was good as usual, it always is - the atmosphere was nice too - but I always feel a bit forgotten about when I visit the place. I also feel that there needs to be more room for the staff to run about and get things done - they constantly were dodgy about each other and more than a few glasses and plates got smashed.

It's a great place to eat but I'm not going to rush back again, sadly.

We'd heard about a restaurant in Brighton where the tables were all set up like opera boxes and had been wanting to go for ages. And finally, this year, some friends took us! Our red velvet-curtained table was like a private room, which made for a lovely and intimate meal. The food prices were suspiciously reasonable, so we weren't expecting much but we were pleasantly surprised. The dressed crab starter and foie gras and duck confit were delicious, and the "lamb two ways" was very good (one of the "two ways" was a little gristly). The service was excellent and the waitstaff deserve extra kudos for negotiating the awkward arrangement of the low-ceilinged opera box we were in. The opera singer who appeared at 8 pm was the icing on the cake, dressed to the nines and belting out arias while we finished our dinner and dessert.

We loved the whole experience so much we went back again two days later, this time with another friend. We sat upstairs in our own private box and it was just like being at the theatre. This time I had the scallops/chorizo starter and the rabbit, which were both excellent. The banoffee pie was also fantastic. The Little Bay easily became our favourite restaurant in Brighton and we will definitely be back!

this place really is terrific. the staff couldn't be nicer. we hadn't booked but when the waiter saw we were drenched after being caught in the st judes storm he made us very welcome. the atmosphere is wonderful and the food is unbelievable at a very reasonable price. we returned again for our second night in brighton. the starters are the best ive ever eaten, many for under £4 including the huge portion of delicious mussels I ordered. I highly recommend The Little Bay restaurant
