We visited on a Friday evening and had a very good meal. The interior is really unusual and the opera singer was very entertaining.
The cost was more than reasonable and we would thoroughly recommend the experience.
Don't be put off by the exterior once inside it is completely different.

Took the in-laws here for a birthday. Lots of fun, real atmosphere and the food was really pretty good, especially considering the cost. We went down the set menu (£11.95 as I recall) and we all ate well. I had a filo pastry starter with chicken and we all had the minute steak for main. The shallot sauce on the steak was, i thought, particularly tasty. All in £75 for four and three (yes 3!!) bottles of wine and an opera singer at your table.
Would thoroughly recommend for a fun night out

I simply do not understand why this place is not full to the rafters: 3 course meal for £11.95, delightful setting on the seafront and charming inside with opera
balconies and live opera by a talented soprano. Of course the food isn't Michelin starred but it is far more than adequate for the price and the staff are attentive and pleasant. We will definitely go again if we are in Brighton. The total price: 2 glasses of wine, 2 soft drinks, water, 3 courses and service came to £40.20 and free opera to boot!

It is with some regret that I cannot comment on the full menu as my Wife and I were only here for breakfast, but I can assure you that if the lunch/dinner is as good as the breakfast it is ABSOLUTELY EXCELLENT.

The restaurant is clean and comfortable. The staff are friendly, helpful, and efficient. The decor is 'out of this world' having been fitted out to look like a small regency theatre with almost baroque style embelishments. There are even tables up in 'the gods' and in boxes. We chose to stay on the ground and selected a window table with a sea view (there is also a sea view al fresco area).

The breakfast is served 'help your self' buffet style (with as many return visits as you can manage) and includes tea, coffee, selection of fruit juices and cereals, bread (toaster available), croissants, jams, marmalade, honey, butter, etc. etc. The hot section includes scrambled/shirred eggs, fried mushrooms, baked beans, tomatoes, bacon, and sausages.
Everything was perfectly presented and cooked.

We were staying at the adjacent UMI Hotel (please see seperate review) and this breakfast was included in the room-rate BUT it is available to any passer-by who wants to walk in and pay just £4.95!!.....this must be the cheapest enjoyable gastronomic experience available in the UK.

To conclude, I can only say one thing - WELL WORTH A VISIT - YOU WILL ENJOY!

This, is by far the best valued breakfast buffet you will get in Brighton for £5..... YES, FIVE POUNDS! Have been a few times now. There is hot english breakfast style food, cereals, fruit, pastries, tea, coffee.... Not bad at all one bit! Alternative is, you could pay £7 and head along the seafront to another breakfast provider that has a set menu.... No brainer really!
