“Overpriced and poor service”
Reviewed 20 July 2014 via mobile

This place is like a second rate Hawksmoor. You can see what it is trying to do but it misses the mark in most areas. The food is good, but not good enough for the price and hype, and not fantastic. Good meaty stuff though. The wine list is overpriced and not interesting. Their house red has a huge mark-up - you can get the SAME wine in Aldi for 4 quid. The waiter was condescending. It was a foodie family night out so was fun anyway to pick apart the facade, and it was a good steak.

“Superb!! But....”
Reviewed 19 July 2014 via mobile

Ive eaten here 4 times and iv always found the food and service to be near faultless. However, 3 times out of the 4 iv eaten here, iv returned home and within a hour or so, thrown up everywhere, the first 2 times i pinned it on another cause, however, this time, im almost certain its because of Somthing in this restaurant does not agree with me.

“Lovely food, super service & friendly staff”
Reviewed 18 July 2014

Popped in for lunch and were not disappointed. The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly - nothing is too much trouble.
Our guests shared a Porterhouse steak which they said was superb - cooked to perfection, tender and very tasty. The sauces they ordered to accompany their steak were excellent too.
We had been recommended the burgers, and we weren't disappointed. I wouldn't normally order burgers in a restaurant like this - but if you like your burgers, then you will not be disappointed.
We had a super lunch in a great atmosphere - would really recommend this.
Just to note: If you are wanting to eat in the evenings, then do book well ahead. Two sets of friends have tried to get reservations lately, and failed because the restaurant is full.

“Nice find!”
Reviewed 15 July 2014

We stumbled across this little place whilst looking for somewhere to eat. Had saw the reviews on Trip Advisor so decided to give it a try, and we were not disappointed. The food is excellent, and the staff were friendly and attentive, without being too overbearing. I would recommend the monkfish which was absolutely delicious!!. It is fairly pricey, however well worth a visit.

“Very good”
Reviewed 12 July 2014 via mobile

After deliberation with friends with decided to eat in the coal shed. The menu appeared to be relatively high priced and my steak eating friend nervously ordered the steak, as £30 for the small steak is a little higher than many other restaurants he commented that 'it had to be good' and it certainly was. The oysters, although a little small, were very tasty and fresh, the sea trout cooked to perfection and my wife's lobster, very nice indeed. My friends steak was cooked to perfection and the steak tartare I had as a starter was the best I've had for many years. Wine selection was very good and lovely to see dessert wines available. For four people who are and drank well a bill of £50 a head was certainly not over the top and worth every penny. Well done to all the staff, great service, great food, we will be back.
