Description: Welcome to The Pond, it’s time to get your feathers wet. We’re an independent pub in Brighton's North Laine serving up delicious beer from all over the planet, including our very own Pondwater Pale Ale, and every month we'll feature one of our favourite breweries by buying in a big ol' pallet of their beers. Street Diner curate the kitchen, showcasing some of the finest culinary talent Brighton has to offer with the awesome Baby Bao doing their thing on the regular. We're open from midday to midnight seven days a week so pop in for a pint and kick back in our cozy boozer that doesn’t take itself too seriously.

“good value for money”

It's a good value for money kind of place, with very friendly stuff. It's not amazing Thai though and the venue could do with an upgrade!

“Fantastic thai food and great atmosphere”
Reviewed 12 May 2014 via mobile

Thai food is lovely and good value for money. Love the atmosphere, although prefer eating downstairs by the pub. Lots of locals too which gives it a good vibe.

“Best Thai food in Brighton”
Reviewed 3 April 2014

We go here often and if you want excellent, freshly cooked Thai food come here. If you want fancy tablecloths, classy décor, sub-standard Thai cooking, go to one of the swanky restaurants in town. The pub downstairs is pretty gross but you don't have to sit there. They've just celebrated their 13th birthday, not bad for a tiny one man restaurant in Brighton!

“This pub is DREADFUL. Poorly and irresponsibly run- the barman was as drunk as the inebriated clientele”
Reviewed 15 January 2014

I had the unfortunate experience of visiting this pub on Saturday 05/01/14 and I can safely say that I will NEVER return.
I, along with a male and female friend visited The pond at 5.30pm to watch the Arsenal v Tottenham match which they show on a big screen. We bought a bottle of (unpleasant) red wine and took a seat towards the back to enjoy the match. The pub was full of young ' Lads' who I assume were there to watch the match also but who instead were shouting, swearing and standing right in front of us blocking the TV but not watching anything. Every other word was c**t or a rascist chant. No member of staff seemed to be in control of this situation or challenged/approached these customers to stop their behaviour. Some of these young men were visibly swaying and falling into each other but this didn't stop the barman/owner from serving them even more drinks and swigging from his own pint.
The atmosphere was dreadful and intimidating, needless to say we didn't finish the unpleasant wine and decided to leave at half time and find somewhere else to watch the second half. My female friend and I managed to leave but my male friend was not so lucky. As he tried to get to the front door one of the group for a reason known only to himself pushed him, calling him some expletive and insulting us. He was pushed out of the door and turning to ask what was going on and why was attacked. More of the lads/thugs followed their friend, behaving like pack animals in this state. Two girls, one guy and up fifteen drunk 'lads'. The odds were not in our favour. Four of these customers followed us up the road as I (5'1") tried to stop them from punching my friend in the head and face as our other friend called the police. The owner/barman came outside as things turned nasty for us and I pleaded with him to help us to which he turned around and walked back inside!? There were no security staff and no staff member from the pub would help us. Thankfully passing motorists stopped their cars in the road and got out and came to our aid. We managed to escape bruised and bloody in a taxi whilst these thugs chased after us. The Police informed us when we checked on the situation later that the attackers had unsurprisingly fled the scene and the barman/.owner had denied any incident of an assault.
As someone who has worked in the licensed trade for over ten years I m appalled at the irresponsible and dangerous serving of alcohol to drunk and intimidating groups of men and the lack of any door staff or security at these premises and have reported the incident to Brighton and Hove Environmental Health and Licensing. If the staff here cannot control what goes on in their pub they should not show football. We were lucky and not seriously injured. Don't make the same mistake we did, Don't go to The Pond!

“The Best Thai Food In Town”
Reviewed 27 September 2013

The pub itself is OK but Sing and the rest of the staff upstairs produce beautiful food, excellent service in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Love it!
