We had visited this establishment a few weeks earlier for a coffee and seemed
impressed by the menu. We sadly decided to go for a meal last Saturday. We
should have realised when we walked into a completely empty ( and cold)
restaurant and just walked out. We sadly didn't!! We ordered a couple of
burgers a beer and a lemonade. all wellish so far.
The drinks arrived, my lemonade was clearly "Happy Shopper" but in addition
was flat and had a very funny taste. The Sol arrived with a lime firmly in the top
and we had to ask for a glass. No real big problems so we soldiered on.
When the burgers arrived we lifted the bun and found, not a burger but clods of
meat which looked more like meatballs. They were bland and not only looked
horrible but had no taste. My partner ordered the New Stein Mushroom which
was introduced as a burger with Mushrooms and horseradish...what she had
was cooked meatball like meat in a very soggy bap with about 4 small (possibly
tinned mushrooms) and no sign of the horseradish. My Revenge Sizzler clearly
kept up to its title..but revenge for who?? Same cold cottage pie meat soggy
bun cheap relish.
We called the server over and asked whether "Their burgers always fell to
pieces " she sadly did not have the benefit of English as her first language and
did not seem to understand . I called a man over who seemed to be in charge.
He clearly lacked any form of social skills, made no apology for the food and
just walked off . He then sat on the other side of the empty restaurant flicking his
lighter. He was rude ignorant and actually did not look particularly wholesome.
We paid up £22.00 ( expensive for such poor quality food) and left.
I am telling all my friends in Brighton to avoid this excuse for a restaurant.
