“Single parent family friendly”
Reviewed 22 August 2011

The reception and restaurant staff were very friendly and gave us a very warm welcome. The bedroom was very large and clean and could easily accommodate my two teenagers and me. Two children can eat breakfast for free for every paying adult so this is particularly good value for single parent families. The breakfast was fabulous, lots of it, delicious with a huge choice. We had one evening meal in the restaurant and although the staff were friendly the food was not great. There was very little choice for vegetarians.
This hotel is in a fantastic location, close to the beach, theatre, shops etc.
I would definitely consider staying here again and have already recommended it to others.

I stayed here for two nights with my parents. We thought the the hotel was great and would definitely stay again.

There is an NCP car park behind the hotel. It doesn't take very long to walk round to the hotel from the car park with you bags. We only stayed for two nights so we didn't have masses of stuff with us so this wasn't a problem. The parking cost us about £37 for out stay. The hotel will give you 10% off if you make sure you give them your parking ticket before you leave.

The rooms were clean and comfortable. The usual Premier Inn choices at breakfast. WE thought the location of the hotel was great, it's really near the Pavilion, Seafront and the Lanes.

The Hotel itself is not that bad could do with a refit , but the breakfast was excellent and the staff very good.
My major gripe was I arrived by car, there is NO car park and not even anywhere to pull in to unload (there is a pedestrian crossing right outside !) around the back of the hotel is a shabby area that looks like a refuse dump.
The only car park near is a NCP which you can get a discount at when staying at the hotel but this will still set you back £19.57 !!!! for an overnight stay. Didn't mention THAT on their website !! When this is added to the cost of your stay it makes this an expensive hotel in a shabby area. I will go elsewhere next time.

For our first trip to Brighton we booked into the Premier Inn. A few days before travelling, they e-mailed us to let us know about parking, providing a post code so all we had to do was pop it in the sat-nav and go. There is no on-site parking, but the multi-storey car park was less than 5 minutes walk from the hotel entrance, with plenty of spaces, including Blue Badge spaces. I was travelling with my wheelchair-user mother, and one of my grumbles about Premier Inn accessible rooms generally is that they do double beds as standard in most of their rooms, whereas we prefer twin beds. However, we were delighted to find that they had made up a single bed for me in the absolutely HUGE wheelchair-friendly room. As always with Premier Inn, the room was spotlessly clean with crisp white bed linen. Another thing they do very well in accessible rooms is provide a sliding door into the bathroom, so there are no problems manoeuvering a wheelchair around a door just to get into the bathroom. All fully accessible, couldn't ask for a better room. The only two minor issues, which were more irritations than problems, were that our room was on the 3rd floor which made getting a wheelchair and escort into a smallish lift a little challenging at busy times (full going up as well as full going down), and breakfast times were very early and short for a holiday resort (as opposed to a business hotel), so there was a terrific crush in the restaurant for breakfast with food and crockery running out fairly frequently. But what absolutely made this hotel stay, and what would make us return, was the service we received from their amazing staff. From Reception to maintenance to restaurant, everyone spoke as we passed them, had a smile for us, asked if we needed anything, offered help - they were brilliant and made us feel valued and safe. Couldn't ask for more.

Room Tip: If you want a twin-bedded accessible room be sure to phone and ask for a second bed to be made up.

Yes, ok, but really not more. The rooms were not special, but clean and comfortable. The service was awful. The people at the reception didn't talk to you, only when you had to pay. When there are a lot of people, i can understand this, but we were the only guests there.

I disagree with many of the reviews here.

The hotel is in an ugly concrete block and the floors of the hotel can be reached from the street without going through the reception area. The public spaces on the corridor are shabby and are showing signs of wear and tear. The windows on the corridor were filthy. Overall, the hotel has a youth hostel feel and as a woman alone, I did not like the feel of the place.

The room was cleaner but very claustrophobic. There was a sofa bed that took up much of the room and meant that one side of the bed could only be reached by climbing over it. Moreover, it was impossible to open two of the three windows and the other only tilted open slightly. It was very oppressive and I found it difficult to sleep. Premier offer a "good night's sleep" policy but do not really implement it in reality. The reception staff told me that not having windows that open in English hotels is standard due to "health and safety" and said I should have had a good night's sleep as the room had air conditioning. The TV was unwatchable as there was something wrong with the screen colours. The bathroom was basic to say the least - cheap lino on the floor and cheap outdated fittings.

I could not face the breakfast in the hotel and just wanted to get out. I had a nice civilised quiet breakfast at Carluccio's round the corner and was glad that I did so.

The price for my room without breakfast was £90 which I do not consider particularly cheap, especially bearing the overall quality of the hotel. In hindsight, I feel a good quality B&B would have been a better and more friendly option. I have never stayed at Premier before and would not do so again.

If there is a plus side, I agree with many that the location is excellent and you can easily walk to the hotel from the railway station. There is also a storeroom that you can use after you have checked out.

The rooms would need some refurbishing, bathroom was quite clean but the carpet, sofa and upholstery were spotted, I did not feel well about it. The breakfast was nice, staff ok, location for beach and city perfect. Rooms were very spacious.
