“Excellent value for money”
Reviewed 24 November 2009

We visited Brighton a couple of weeks ago to see Michael McIntyre (who was brilliant!) & as we were driving needed a hotel that was in easy walking distance of the main town but with parking. The Premier Inn seemed to be the best option. Although it did not have a direct car park there was an NCP car park around the back which was reasonably priced & hotel guests then received a discount (I can't remember exactly - under £10 for 24hrs I think)
As we were only going to be in the room for a few hours to sleep (we went out as soon as we dumped our stuff) I was reluctant to spend alot of money on accomodation & some of the hotels in the area have the cheek to not only charge alot of money for basic room but then charge to use their car park. Anyway it's basic but clean with a good TV, kettle & shower. We had a room at the back so weren't botherred by noise but seeing as the hotel is in the main town then that has to be expected for some rooms I suppose. The staff seemed friendly & helpful & for the price it was a really good choice!

If this hotel was elsewhere it would be quite average but for Brighton it is quite good. Problems with Brighton hotels in summer are too much heat and noise and this doesn't have either. The corridors have security doors to stop the drunks coming on to your corridor, I suspect. Walking back to it late at night is not all that lovely and there is someone on the door for increased security. The price for Brighton is reasonable and location excellent. Breakfast was good and plentiful. A better bet than lots of the other mid range hotels in Brighton. At least you are getting a reliable brand.

This was the first of three Premier Inns we tried on our vacation in England, and the one we rated lowest. This does not mean that it was a bad hotel, but rather an average+.
The room was a little tired, but of fair size (for some reason we got a room suitable for wheelchairs). The staff was friendly and the location was good. Parking was not free, but there was parking within walking distance.
I would not mind coming back, but might try out another hotel next time (to compare).

This hotel is ideally located for discovering Brighton. It’s a ten minute walk downhill from the station. First impressions aren’t great. It’s located on a busy and quite scruffy road and has a doorway entrance next to subway. You have to enter the doorway and take the lift to the 1st floor reception., once there everything is as you’d expect. Reception was very professional and breakfast was good quality. My room was large and the bed was quite comfy. There’s a plasma TV with built in freeview. No mini fridge. The location is this hotels best asset – everything is on your doorstep. Cross the road in front of the hotel and you’re immediately in the Laines – it’s a maze of pubs, restaurants and little boutique shops. I ate at Jamie’s Italian, which was lovely and is next to some great pubs. If you walk through the Laines it brings you out at the sea front (less than 10 minute walk). If you exit the hotel the left you’ll find North Laine. It’s full of cafes, independent shops, galleries, market stalls. There’s a relaxed, boho atmosphere and it goes on for streets and streets. Right of the hotel you’ll find Churchill square which is the main high street shopping centre. All in all this was a good stay and a brilliant location. Watch out walking back up to the station with your luggage – it was pretty tough.

My partner & I stayed here for one night when we had to be in Brighton at short notice for a family emergency. We did not have time to research a nice, cute B&B with good reviews (having stayed in one with a rock solid mattress on our first night in Brighton). We picked the Premier Inn because of the central location, & because we have stayed in two previously that were very good (LIverpool Albert Docks one in particular).

The problem with the Brighton one is that it just needs an update. They have added all the superficial Premier Inn stuff, but it doesn't change the fact that the rooms are dark & a bit grubby, the building is hideous, and the mattresses all need to be replaced.

I asked if they had any rooms with different/newer mattresses to the one we were in, and we were moved - to a room with exactly the same type of mattress! The mattresses in both rooms were old, I could feel the springs, made noises when you moved & had lost all support (using the word 'soft' would imply it was comfortable!).

At the Premier Inn in Liverpool we stayed in, the mattress was perfect & the bed was a really good size.

Breakfast had been booked for us, so we had it. It was fine - OK selection, eat as much as you like, and we got the papers we had ordered. Wi-fi worked fine, but it's pretty expensive & you have to pay per 24 hrs.

Overall, for one night, it was OK, but I wouldn't have wanted to stay any longer.

We stayed here for 4 mights with boys aged 9 and 13, so we needed plenty of room. We were ready to check in as soon as we were allowed to but the only family room was a bit small (the receptionist kindly took us to see it) so she suggested we wait a few mins whilst she sorted us out a (much) bigger room, it was really huge. In the meantime we waited in the spacious and attractive lounge and she kindly gave us kids drawing stuff to keep them busy. Otherwise re the room, it was clean, comfortable, the TV worked, it was cleaned daily and we heard no noise at all (we were on 3rd floor).

Breakfast absolutely great, staff very helpful, all food very nice, huge choice, no trouble getting a table. In fact all staff were great, happy to sort discount on parking, look after bags after we checked out. The lady with red hair and an eyebrow stud deserves special mention for really caring that we were happy.

Plus it's in a great spot, right in the middle, near the lanes and the main shopping area, but not noisy - we'd definitely book again, no hesitation.

I had high expectations of this hotel after reading a number of the reviews on here but unfortunately have to report that some very basic issues let this hotel down.

The toilet seat in the bathroom in our family room was almost falling off and our young son actually fell off it and hurt himself. We were moved to another room which had exactly the same problem and my husband ended up having to try and tighten the seat himself!

One of the two lifts in the hotel was out of order for two of the three days we were there and this caused long delays getting up and down from our room on the fifth floor.

Although this hotel is good value for money and the breakfast was adequate I'm not sure if I'd chose it again. We had a room at the back of the hotel and it was still quite noisy with people working directly beneath our window, moving pallets at all hours of the day!

Unfortunately we seemed to come away from this hotel with more negatives than positives which was disappointing.
