“Amazing wedding”
Reviewed 5 January 2014

We held our wedding party at Hotel du Vin on the 27th December 2013, it was a fantastic night with service that blew me any my family away. Whilst the great location and unique bespoke styling of the venue were already a given I was delighted by the superb service from all the staff, from the event coordinator who was very agreeable and who didn't said no to anything (every brides dream) to all the lovely waiters and waitresses on the night who were impeccably dressed and incredibly polite. I highly recommend this venue to anyone looking to get married in Brighton or for any type of private event such as a special birthday party. Thanks so much HdV!

Stayed just before Christmas and it was a welcome haven from the raging storm. We bought a bed/breakfast/evening meal package and got a room upgrade. Really comfortable bed and pillows, fabulous bathroom with walk in shower that I never wanted to get out of. The bar is really nice, with a good cocktail selection and breakfast (we just had the continental) was beautiful and ample. Dinner was very good but I have left it to the last as there was one slight niggle - when it came to settling the bill in the morning our meal allowance hadn't been deducted so I had to get that changed. We had eaten with a couple of friends and I also noticed that a 10% 'discretionary' service charge had been added to the restaurant bill. I could have asked for it to be removed but that would have felt a little churlish. Anyway, aside from this minor point its a fantastic place.

Wow, just had 3 days xmas eve til Boxing Day in the cristal suite. What a fantastic holiday. Room was really beautiful, 2 roll top baths at the end of an 8 ft bed. Very rockn roll . Special thanks to yukari for organising everything and for giving her time to chat to our daughter . The Xmas dinner was exceptionally good. Really delicious food and the best roast potatoes I have ever eaten! Can't wait to go back. Will have to be the cristal suite every time now, totally spoilt!

Room Tip: All the rooms are lovely but the suites are really worth the extra money for a special event.

The hotel is a perfect location for the lanes, the bar is cosy, rooms were to a good standard, although if you are a light sleeper then ask for a room to the rear as woken several times in the night by people celebrating. The bathroom was lovely with a huge walk in shower.. The sound system in the room really high standard so don't forget your iPod. We ate in the restaurant and the service and food fantastic, the wine waiter very helpful and knowledgeable . If you are booking with a deal check the t&c as we had a boxing day deal which included breakfast and evening meal, however on paying at the end found out it was just a supplement of £20 each towards the meal. We cannot find reference to this in the advert either. All in all a great location, lovely hotel, breakfast also great as well as service

Room Tip: at the rear if you want a quite night sleep.

Sunday brunch was terrible: slow service & truly mediocre food. Overcooked chicken, almost no gravy, overcooked vegetables, miniscule and greasy haddock with rosti potatos, tepid and watery soup, chaos at the help yourself area. I've eaten many times at the HdV and always been impressed in the past. What's gone wrong? The Bloody Mary was the only redeeming feature.

Just an overnighter with our 2 dogs on way from Chunnel to Bristol for Xmas.
We had a studio suite which was large, beautifully furnished and wonderfully comfortable.
Large bathroom with large really good shower.
Staff were excellent and could not help enough, and travelling with 2 spoilt dogs involves a lot of bags/luggage/food etc.
No dogs in restaurant but good room service with selections from bar menu or full Bistro menu. Extensive wine list (as one would expect).
Hotel is well located in centre of Brighton right by waterfront and close to Brighton Pier.
Only downside is that there is no hotel parking, apart from baggage drop area, although you can park there without getting parking fine between 6pm-9am, but only about 3 spots.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Hotel du Vin Brighton is situated in the Lanes conservation area, a pebbles' throw from the seafront. Its 49 bedrooms are housed in a collection of eccentric Gothic revival and mock Tudor buildings erected, appropriately by a wine merchant on the site of an old inn. Among many interesting features are a heavily carved staircase and bizarre gargoyles, while the original double-height hall now houses the wine bar and Laroche tasting room. The perfect venue for a picturesque wedding or party is the impressively large and airy Dome room. For the best tankered of local ale, Pub du Vin is one of Brighton city center's treasures with its classic pub dining. Out with the Brighton hotel is the wonder and inspiring town itself, with quaint streets dotted with fabulous shops, and of course the famous pier and promenade. ... more   less
