“Mixed feelings, but as good as you'll get on the south coast”
Reviewed 1 December 2010

We stayed on a Thursday and Friday night recently.
Very nice spacious room
Sofa facing away the television
Chairs very uncomfortable
Great view over the marina
Comfortable bed
Despite the large room just a shower over the bath, would prefer a separate cubicle
Previous occupants room service bowl left under the bed until I fished it out and left it on the side next to a previous occupants chewing gum stuck to the cabinet
Decent cooked breakfast, but don’t understand the half a mushroom and half a slice of black pudding, I guess margins are tight
Free parking (level 7 next to the bridge is most convenient, unless you are eligible for disabled parking)
ASDA (including petrol station) across the road
Outlet shops in the development. Don’t waste your time, apart from the chilli shop, they are selling tat
Lots of places to eat or drink right outside the front door
Weighing all up, we will probably stay again if the price is right as clean modern hotels on the south coast are few and far between.

It is true that the approach to Brighton Marina via an underpass & an Asda & into a multistorey car park does not usually bode well for a good hotel experience , but that is not true of the Seattle . The staff whilst are helpful , for example letting our party of 16 check out half hour later than stated & giving us tips on where to go for pubs , bars & restauranys in Brighton . The food is fine , if a little slow in arriving & the ambience is modern . The rooms are hot which is a drawback - but are very functional with nice touches such as the slanting rubbish bin . Our party were well looked after in the Elliot room at cocktail hour & in the late night bar . The entrance to the hotel is most confusing but the simple advice is to either get your taxi to drop you off at the Red Hotel Seattle sign & take the lift or to park on the 6th floor of the multi-storey & take the walkway to the Hotel - via another Red sign on the door on the opposite side of the Hotel .

Would seriously consider coming back with my better half - preferably in the Summer

We stayed here for one night as we were going to a show at the Brighton Comedy Festival. After looking at the various hotels on tripadvisor this seemed like a pretty good option and it seemed good value for £99 including breakfast. The location at Brighton Marina is disappointing as you have to either drive, get a taxi or bus into the centre of town. The marina area itself is a bit tacky and downmarket with ASDA, McDonalds etc. The actual room was very small and rather basic - the white walls and bedding seemed rather stark and cold. Our TV wasn't working which wasn't a big deal as we were out the entire evening and had to check out by 11am the following morning. The room was very stuffy during the night and although we were on the top floor there was alot of noise from above which made it virtually impossible to sleep. As a result we didn't make it to breakfast so can't comment on that. I have to say Hotel Seattle didn't live up to the hype and we will stay in the centre of Brighton next time.

Very much enjyed the stay. Rooms are simple but great for short stays. Its located in the marina, which means a short taxi ride into the centre of Brighton. The great thing is free parking. Breakfast was fine and the staff all seemed happy to be working there. Will happily use again.

My partner & I stayed at the Seattle for 5 nights. Most accustomed to staying in the Caribbean Islands like Barbados, St. Lucia, Dominica & in the US, It was a magnificent change of travel for me. We were welcomed with a pleasant smile on reception. Upon arrival to the room i was quite pleased to see the standard of the room. As said in other reviews the rooms are quite spacious and the ambiance is quite relaxing. B'fast was always nice once we woke in time for it. (out late alot) never had lunch or dinner. What i appreciated about my stay was that o was able to meet the manager Barry, vey nice guy he is I must say, and very professional with his runnning of the hotel. The staff are lovely except for one bad encounter with one. that one however did not put a dent on the others tho. i am terrible with names so i cant pin point diretly the staff, but mostly the reception staff were very helpful & full of life. They are all a credit to the hotel. (always willing to go above and beyond). Dont expect a 5 star hotel, expect great value for the money you spend. Some ppl moan and groan and that why they have so many somplaints before the assentuate on the positive... like the lovely surroundings the hotel have. I will definately be back. (maybe in a few years) traveling to those other places are cheaper. I reccomend this hotel to young adult travelers with spouses.

Location was great for us as meeting up with family from Vancouver who were staying nearby, so hotel was chosen for location rather than anything else. Did have some concerns after reading previous reviews as to how noisy it would be, but we had no problems at all - maybe a seaview room on the third floor is the answer!!! Staff were helpful and friendly, public rooms spacious and comfortable and breakfast was superb. Parking was no problem either and we did not use the car for the duration of our stay as used restaurants near to the hotel - plenty of choice. Only negative point is the lack of wardrobe space - maybe if we had booked for a longer period our allocated room may have had a wardrobe. The lack of hanging space did not cause a problem as we only stayed one night, but for a longer stay it might. Highly recommended!
