Having read the reviews (good and bad) we were trying to keep an open mind for our first visit to this restaurant. We went at about 2..00 pm on Friday and the place was about a third full and buzzing with people. We had the £15 full bbq option with salad etc and were not disappointed by the amount to meat on offer or the quality of the steak. We also had a very nice bottle of Malbec. We think it's probably good to go when it's busy so the waiters are frequently bringing meats to your table. We enjoyed it and would go again.

youre given one of two options; buffet for £15 or buffet and meats for £20. As i dont eat red meat i didnt think it was worth while paying the £20 menu so opted for buffet, hoping there would be selection of fish, chicken dishes, etc.
the buffet consisted of small salad selection and other small dishes like onion rings and chips, things you would not of expected in a restaurant as such. SO that turned out to be one very expensive, boring salad.
my boyfriend went for the other menu and found the meat to be very salty !
drinks were extremely overly priced too, two vodka lemonades totalled £14 !?
wont ever be going back there again, nor would i recommend it to any others.

first time visit, enjoyed the meats served at the table. I think the meat option was reasonably priced but I would not be very happy I choose the cheaper buffet option. Drinks very overpriced .

I visited with a Brazilian friend for lunch recently.
The waiter wanted us to get the £10 lunch set menu which we turned down and he seemed really annoyed by that (we wanted the whole range of meats instead of the 'up to 6' of the set menu, they clearly did not want to put the extra skewers on the grill).
The buffet offered a wide choice however, the warm options (cassava chips, fried banana, feijoada,...) were stone cold and frankly hardly edible.
The meats were very tasty however served by a sulky, unhappy waiter. When my friend tried to make conversation in portuguese and asked if he was Brazilian he first grimaced in disgust and then responded that unfortunately, he was and then walked away leaving us gobsmacked.
We were then left and even to get a waiter's attention to get the bill felt like a mission and the idea of ordering dessert quickly disappeared.
Would never set foot in any restaurant of this chain again. Awful.

Preto in Brighton is part of a chain of Brazilian churrascarias. The system used is as in Brazil: you're given a green and red card. Green indicates to the passadores (the guys who dash around serving meat cuts) that you want meat. You can eat as much as you want. A good addition that I didn't find in Brazil is that with the knives and forks they give you a pair of pincers to help you get the meat off the skewer.
The meat quality was surprisingly good, this being England I found both beef and lamb of excellent quality.
Service is indifferent but adequate. Restaurant is light and clean and if you've a big appetite it's excellent value for money. I'll certainly try it again maybe at lunchtime. Visit was on a Thursday night and place wasn't too busy. If you're a vegetarian there is a salad bar and Brazilian hot dishes but I wouldn't recommend this place as it is for eating 16 meat varieties that are really good and tasty.
I'd advise you to try the meat juicy as there's little gravy and sauces about, some of my companions found it a bit dry because they chose the meat mostly well done.
