We booked the Best Western in Brighton because it was cheap & its location was near to where we needed to be. Parking was limited, but we had a little car, so we got a spot. £15 - much cheaper than parking on one of the meters nearby or one of the municipal car parks.
The hotel lobby & bar area look really nice (didn't use though). There is one lift that can only take 2 people at a time. It must be said that the hotel is an old Grade 2 listed building, so floors & corridors are uneven & slope. Our room was on the 4th floor. It was a small double, but had everything we needed & a nice integral ensuite. We didn't have a view but as we were only sleeping there that didn't matter. The floor in our room sloped quite severely & the door didn't fit the frame very well.
We had a turbulent nights sleep on a very squishy bouncey bed. Light from the landing poured in through the gaps around the bedroom door. There was no air con & it was a very warm night. The window opened onto emergency fire escape stair way - so wasn't sure how safe it was to leave open at night... The room was not sound proofed. We could hear the comings & goings of the hotel residents in rooms next door, above & below us. The walls were paper thin, so we could hear people using the toilet, showering, using the hairdryer. The shower in the room next door was so loud it woke me up. After dozing off again, the lift motor (which was outside our bedroom door) woke us up & kept us awake. Very glad we didn't pay for a late checkout!!

This was a dreadful nights sleep. But the room was only £90 & the location is good. Wont be back though as we come to Brighton a lot & get a much better nights sleep in Kemptown.

Thank you for your review and I was disappointed to read that we did not meet your expectations. As you mentioned the hotel is listed and this does reduce the changes we can make to the rooms and the size of the lift. We continue to develop the hotel facilities including updating bathrooms and bedroom facilities. i do hope you will try the hotel again and perhaps choose a seaview room which are larger with great views of the English Channel.

If this hotel was anywhere else charging the prices it does, it would be out of business. It is , for what it is, grossly overpriced. But so are most of the rest of the hotels , b&B's, apartments and other accommodations in Brighton. So, they are probably priced about right for where they are in the market. The halls and general decor is a bit shabby and in need of money. There is a strange odour in one of the staircases and the net curtains look grubby, but actually are that colour.
Our room was large, as was the bathroom, but the bed was more like a trampoline.
The staff generally were good, particularly the young lady on breakfast duty who was excellent. There was one exception, which is why they only get an average for service.
It is situated on the front and in easy distance of the town and all it offers. There is limited parking which is 'first come, first served' and you pay for. But again, its Brighton, what do you expect?
So overall, its ok. Would we go back ? Not as a first choice, but we would not reject it out of hand.

Lovely people who worked there, didn't realise you had to book parking, our room was large but the toilet was squashed in the corner so had to sit on it sideways? Bed was uncomfortable but close to bars and restaurants

Very good location just across the beach with many restaurants around. I stayed at this hotel many times and never been disappointed. There is free WI-FEE. There are limited chargeable parking spaces on site but plenty available across the road.
Members of staff are very friendly. Julija is always very helpful :)

Room Tip: Sea view would be No 1
