Description: The Blue Man is a relaxed and informal Cafe-Bar with Brighton Soul and North African flavour. You can pop in for coffee (best in town!), Amazing selection of tea, a lovely wine list or a bit of food if you're hungry. We're chilled and informal and will make you feel very welcome. In the evening we host live events, acoustic nights, dancing, DJs and parties. Pop downstairs and feel a world away from the hustle and bustle in a haven that's a home away from home...

We were heading back to the rail station after a day at the beach and a rather disappointing tapas meal elsewhere. We walked past this little place and we had to pop in. It was a Tuesday evening and quite quiet but that didn't detract from the atmosphere. It's a really well decorated little bar with plenty to keep the eyes busy. The staff were friendly and welcoming. We just had drinks but the tapas style African inspired dishes the couple next to us were having looked amazing. We'll definitely be heading back for food and more drinks soon.

My students were appearing at the Fringe, and our show was cancelled on the Monday. We decided to trawl the streets looking for another gig, and The Blue Man came up trumps!!

Small and cosy, we were led to a downstairs room with a small stage and decided to take up the offer and played. The room was lovely, and was kitted out with Morroccan artifacts and we attracted a small crowd.

Drinks were good, but I'd like to have seen a real ale on there!! The food was good value and we all made immediate plans to play here next year.

The thing that made it for me were the staff: they were all extremely helpful and very nice to us and it's the best I've been treated in a bar/pub/resturaunt!!

I WILL be back!

Small, comfortable bar with good value Moroccan-style tapas - hummus, olives, falafel and so on. Relaxed atmosphere.

Well, we tried The Blue Man about four years ago, when it was on the edge of The Lanes. In those days it was a restaurant serving good Moroccan food and was excellent in a quirky, atmospheric, North African way.

However, our recent visit to the new restaurant was very disappointing. This time the whole experience was more like stopping off in a cafe. The girl behind the bar was very friendly and extrememly helpful. She was clearly working under difficult circumstances, having to deal with a group of local late-teens/early twenties students coming in to chillout in the lounge area downstairs without buying much whilst there. She really needed a second pair of hands and certainly earns every penny she is paid.

Worth visiting during the day for a coffee and a bite to eat, but...

The Blue Man is an interesting venue with great decor and a relaxed atmosphere. Not knowing my way around the menu and being in a bit of a rush the man who was serving was really helpful in suggesting a sharing plate for 3 of us. This arrived quite quickly on a square 12" x 12" plate. There was salad in the centre with pitta bread, humous, spicy sausage, couscous, spicy lamb, falafel and olives. I'm no expert on this cuisine but it tasted pretty good. I'm guessing it was like a snack size or starter for three rather than a main meal.
In the area below there was a function going on with dancers and excellent music. I would visit again but probably for drinks and the ambience as I did think the food was pricey. Readers who know this cuisine will have a much better idea of cost. We had two diet cokes, a bottle of Spitfire beer and the food which came to £27.50.
