The Mucky Duck is one of the best pubs, if not the best pub I ate in during my summer in England. My boyfriend and I spent 2 days in Brighton and this was by far our favorite place. We split a grilled vegetable platter (the veggies were on skewers) and I believe it was served with hummus and perhaps another sauce or two. The dish was grilled and seasoned perfectly and we still talk about how delicious it was. We stayed and had a few drinks after dinner which were pretty reasonably priced and watched a local band preform. The atmosphere was great and the prices were decent, I would recommend the Mucky Duck to anyone who finds themselves in Brighton, whether they want great food, a pint, or to hear some good music.

I went here with a friend for Sunday lunch. I chose the pork belly while my friend who is vegetarian asked for the nut roast. However, they had ran out of nut roast. My friend asked if he could substitute the nut roast for a vegetarian burger but have all the roast veg to accompany it.This was no problem and they agreed. My pork belly was very nice and the crackling was delicious. It came with broccolli in a tasty shropshire blue sauce, roast potatoes, vegetables and a very nice mashed swede. The service was good, and the quality of the food made it good value.

Cosy pub with friendly staff. We had food cooked by Charlie the chef and it was cooked to perfection and very tasty. Burgers were excellent and Onion Rings were the best we have ever had-lovely light crisp batter. Salad was crisp and fresh. The Barman-whose name we cannot recall but know he likes skate boarding ! -was very friendly and helpful. Smoking courtyard is very cosy and friendly. If you are in Brighton you should visit this place,Menu is different and interesting..

After reading a positive review on the Brighton Source site I decided to take my parents to the Mucky Duck for dinner.

Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly by the barman who instantly pointed out that they had three specials on (tuna steak, gnocchi and chicken and fennel pie). He seemed to have tried a lot of the dishes on the menu, recommending the pie and the burgers. He was friendly throughout the experience.

They have a good selection of main meals - a mixture of veggie/vegan options and meat. I was torn between the mushroom burger (£8 served with goats cheese and red onion marmalade) and the gnocchi.

In the end, I settled on the gnocchi which arrived within 15 minutes. Served with a fresh salad, it exceeded expectations. My parents had a 'Dragon Stout Burger' each which, of course, I sampled. Marinated in stout, the burger was topped with melted cheddar and gherkins and served with hand cut chips, homemade onion rings and a generous side salad. The roll was lovely; crusty and warm; not your average burger bun.

And all this lovely food was reasonably priced (around £8-9 for a main).

Highly recommended. Will be back soon!

Lovely little pub, friendly staff and a decent roast. The belly pork is amazing! Used to be the best value roast in Brighton however the prices have crept up over the last couple of years and Portion sizes are going down. Also beware of the beef I've had it a couple of times and it was tough as old boots!
