Hidden from the main thoroughfare we liked the Mucky Duck the instant we walked in. Friendly staff, eclectic music and a great range of beers.

Amazingly for such a small place it managed to have different areas such as the sofa area, a games area (Connect 4, Guess Who etc) a great bar area and a corner for the DJ to set up. It has a really cool unpretentious vibe about it and the age range went from student to groovy grandad.

Went there both nights our party of two couples stayed in Brighton and both nights were different but equally enjoyable, will be certain to pop in next time we are in town as we are certain to get a decent pint and some interesting music. Oh, and you must try the food! Fantastic quality and value.

As you have probably worked out, of the 10 - 15 pubs we visited in Kemp Town and the Lanes over the weekend this one was by far our favourite.

When we visited the bitter was on the turn and the seating was reserved for a large group who, when they eventually appeared, seemed intent making one drink between two last all night.

We left: there are much better pubs in Brighton - that is unless you are part of a large group that intends to make one drink between two last all night!

This pub in Manchester Street is very well worth a visit. The food is lovely and fresh. Sunday Lunch seemed extremely popular. There are local real ales and the Guinness is perfect. The staff professional but at the same time very chilled dudes. A great place, complete with "the cupboard" size smoking area out the back. Well done to you all.
Locals also told me great venue for late night music

Am a big fan of Sunday Roasts and was recommended The Mucky Duck by a local. Had a delicious meal - the pork and its accompanying (and generous) serving of crackling was so very more-ish; good thing there was more of it. Would definitely recommend this pub. Very good beer selection as well.
