I have lived in Brighton all my life and this is by far the best place for Sunday roasts in town!
Good value for money and a chilled atmosphere for a good Sunday catch up with friends!

Saw the Film '71 today..very, very good..and made me forget all about an awful ( but not so awful you'd quite complain) lunch at the Mucky Duck. The theme was 'tepid' . They offered to stick it in the microwave, which would not properly help a roast dinner back to a state of glory I'm told this pub normally achieves...Now if they'd offered to serve me a new plate of grub hot from the kitchen, I'd go back....as it is I'm awarding it my '1 out of 10' stars for naff pub grub of the week. Shame..i was looking forward to it, as it was only pub grub of the week. Taters were hard in the middle too. Many, many good roasts in Brighton, so I don't think I'll be waving a tenner at this lot again. On the plus side, good pub, good Otter ale, and others and jolly nice staff. Maybe chef is having a mid-life crisis. So review is really just for the food.

Had a nice meal here in May of this year, so whilst we were in Kemptown yesterday we thought we'd pop in for a drink and look at the lunch menu. We didn't get as far as ordering lunch. The music was so loud we couldn't hear ourselves talk and the barman and a customer were shouting and bounding about the place like a couple of greyhounds on some kind of banned substance. We finished our wine and left. Message to self - must add this pub to my list of places never to return to!

... with open arms!

Very warm space, feel this will become a local for me - friendly staff and customers; quite refreshing to pop into a Brighton Pub and start chatting with all and sundry.

Music was funkily eclectic, didn't intend to eat but was enticed by the food coming out of the kitchen; burger and chips was excellent (and I'm not a burger type man) and served with a nice flair of balsamic vinegar.
