Step back in time - the waitresses dressed in "Joe Lyons" type uniforms (not that I remember Joe, but husband does - just). A terrific little teashop with a huge selection of cakes all of which looked immensely appetising. However, as a special dinner was planned for that evening, we opted for a fruit scone with jam and cream (to share - although on reflection, wish we had had one each). I thought we had found perfection in the Cornwall & Devon clotted cream teas, and although the cream here is not clotted, the scones were the best ever: light, warm and so crumbly the last pieces required the teaspoon ! It's a quirky little place: all the tables, china etc. are different - our tiny white milk jug was in the shape of a heart !. Sadly, it is not, as we had hoped, from a local pottery but belonged to the owner's (the lovely Jackie whom we met on her way out of the shop) grandmother, as did a great deal of the other pieces of china. We had only just arrived in Brighton for a 48 hour visit, and this was our first "meal". There is absolutely no doubt that when we return to Brighton, Jackie's Little Teashop will be our first call - with no dinner planned for the evening.

After a lovely day round the town of Brighton me and my best friend really fancied a cuppa and a cake :) and found this what looked lovely from the outside! The cakes looked lovely, I had a scone which was nice but fell apart everywhere. We asked for some tea enough for two! And got a massive teapot with one tea bag in it! The tea was like dish water and I would expect tea leaves in a traditional tea room! I didn't appreciate to be called a girl by the waitrose aswell will not be visiting again.

Wonderful little tea shop in the heart of the lanes. Well priced afternoon tea, delicious scones and a pleasant atmosphere. Recommend a visit.

Visited the teashop twice on a short visit to Brighton. The cream tea is great value and the scones are so fresh they almost fall apart! Staff are pleasant and helpful and have old fashioned type uniforms which helps set the scene and take you back in time for while you're there. It was busy on our second visit (Saturday pm) and the staff were offering to reserve tables when they became free for people who came in while it was full. A whole range of teas are available and the cakes looked great too, but we stuck with the cream tea :)
