We needed someone cosy for a light lunch on a rainy day in Brighton! We happened to see this place and decided to give it a go. The service was friendly and, although the staff were busy, they served us as quickly as possible with re-assurances that our food was on its way. So refreshing as often in eating places once orders have been placed, customers are made to feel they are forgotten!
The food was delicious . The décor was lovely too and the place has such a lot of character. Service was excellent and we would certainly go back

Had high hopes for this place this week - big section of a wide range of cakes to be fair but portion size and presentation very, very poor.
Paid £3.37 (!) for a 'slice' of banoffee! More like a slither! Perhaps I am partly to blame in so far as I asked for some banoffee to take away and didn't watch it being sliced to see a typical 'slice'.
I was so surprised at how teeny tiny the piece was...it was ridiculous.
It looked more like the leftovers from someone who could not eat bit - of the same miniscule portion.
And Im not a fatty or gym bunny - Im a size 10/12 fit woman - a woman who just wanted a decent and WELL priced slice of banoffee.
Wont be going back.

We were drawn to the Little Teashop due to a member of staff stepping out of the front door in a bob cap and uniform. Then taking in the external feel, how cosy and small it was inside it was an irresistible pull. The choice of 1930/1940's music created a great ambience and the decor charming and inviting, of course having tea in a cup and saucer, charming as well. A smaller menu made choice much easier and so we both ordered poached eggs on toast, one tea and one hot chocolate but the hot chocolate was to be topped with spray cream. I do realise that in today's economic atmosphere spray cream is the way but I find it has no taste. The tea arrived and hot chocolate both very well presented however the eggs were a tiny bit of a let down. The toast was cold. There were no other hot food orders taken apart from ours and the eggs had been cooked in a poacher and not boiling hot water and vinegar and then out of the four eggs served all four were hard. A poached egg should have a bit of fun in it.
That all said, it was a charming break from the Lanes, the staff were very attentive, polite and friendly and I won't hesitate to go back again.
It was refreshing to find a real tea room and with just a tweek here and a tweek there this tea room could easily rank as among one of the best in town.
We do so hope that you step up to the mark because you deserve to be fabulous.

Step back in time - the waitresses dressed in "Joe Lyons" type uniforms (not that I remember Joe, but husband does - just). A terrific little teashop with a huge selection of cakes all of which looked immensely appetising. However, as a special dinner was planned for that evening, we opted for a fruit scone with jam and cream (to share - although on reflection, wish we had had one each). I thought we had found perfection in the Cornwall & Devon clotted cream teas, and although the cream here is not clotted, the scones were the best ever: light, warm and so crumbly the last pieces required the teaspoon ! It's a quirky little place: all the tables, china etc. are different - our tiny white milk jug was in the shape of a heart !. Sadly, it is not, as we had hoped, from a local pottery but belonged to the owner's (the lovely Jackie whom we met on her way out of the shop) grandmother, as did a great deal of the other pieces of china. We had only just arrived in Brighton for a 48 hour visit, and this was our first "meal". There is absolutely no doubt that when we return to Brighton, Jackie's Little Teashop will be our first call - with no dinner planned for the evening.
