Went to stanmer with my partner and our dog. We took the bus (25) which turns out a near perfect bus to take to the place as it almost goes outside the park, there is a bus which goes in the park but that's on weekends only. in the summer stanmer park is gorgeous. You can go for a walk through the woods, and an endless amount of fun with picnics and family games. There is a café, little farm and church round the back of stanmer which didn't expect cards sadly and the nearest card machine is at the university but looked a lovely café none the less. As they didn't except cards we went off to stanmer house for some tea and scones which was delicious, price was very reasonable and our waiter was the politest I've seen ( I've never been called sir so much as a 17 year old hehe ) if you have a well mannered dog then it is allowed which is fair enough. Would recommend this for anyone,

Transport is needed.

A lovely park on the outskirts of Brighton you really need transport to get to it but worth the trip.Popular with dog walkers and family's it has loads of open space to play family games ,football and walk your dog,At the top of the park is the village is has a small farm with cows and horses and tea rooms for a rest and food and drink.
It also has a garden nursery, a pond ,church and small car park.
Stanmer park house which was derelict for years but has now been restored now holds functions and weddings ( i noted someone said it also does food and teas )
It also has a large wooded area that stretches from Lewes road to the top of ditching road with many paths and tracks mainly used by dog walkers .
Its a good park to have a family picnic or met up with friends on a sunny day very popular.

Stanmer Park is in a very accessible area just off the A27..lovely old parkland with a variety of walks through mature woodland and across farmland.

The house has been restored and is open for breakfast, lunch ,afternoon tea etc.

Very relaxed atmosphere...nice to relax with a glass of Pimms in the garden on a warm afternoon.
Or breakfast in the drawing room with the fires alight in the winter.

Dogs welcome....one observation though as a dog owner...there needs to be more poo bins!!

Stanmer Park lies about 3 miles from the centre of Brighton and is accessible by car, bus and train. It's a large expanse of natural grassland and woods and, at its northern end, the beautiful old village of Stanmer. The village boasts a very old and pretty chapel with the graves of Lord and Lady Pelham who once owned the land and lived in the beautiful manor house, Stanmer House. This building now houses a great restaurent where you can drop in with your dog for lunch. In the village is the cafe which also serves food and drinks, and ice lollies for the children. There is a dairy farm and several horses in the surrounding fields. In the Spring the extensive woods are full of bluebells, though take your wellies and be prepared for mud. At the moment it is best to avoid the weekends when the park gets overly packed with people and their cars.

Stanmer Park is lots of things to lots of people. You can play football there. Or walk your dog. There's an old village, church, pond, and a manor house run as a pub/restaurant. Then there's Stanmer Great Wood, Upper Lodges and the areas beyond. A walk around the perimeter will take you hours, and offer plenty to see. Many habitats exist, with a wide diversity of flora & fauna. There's coppiced woodland, bluebell woods, parkland, open fields, a farm, and much more besides. If you drive into the park & think the park ends where the trees begin, think again. Venture further and discover one of Brighton's most previous treasures, hidden in plain sight.
