“Fabulous Break”
Reviewed 6 April 2012

My daughter and I stayed in the Marrekesh compact double for 2 nights. It was a lovely room, small but perfectly organised, clean, nice decor, television, etc... We were particularly impressed with room service for breakfast and one dinner as we had a couple lazy days. The food arrived on time, hot, delicious. The staff were extremely welcoming and friendly. I would love to come again to this well situated excellent hotel. We are very picky and read every review and were surprised that not everyone gave this wonderful spot 5 stars!!!

Room Tip: Higher floors may not suit people who can't do lots of stairs, but we loved our window over the...

This hotel rises above others in the area for the friendliness of the incredibly helpful staff (I think we interacted with 5 different staffers and they were all very warm), the quirky comfortable rooms, top notch breakfast, and the warm welcome for small children. It's in an excellent poisition, very close to the sea and Brighton wheel and pier, yes New Steine Square also has its tranquil square of greenery, so you don't feel hemmed in or hectic. I had long discussions about parking, child-friendly restauarants etc with the people on reception and they couldn't have offered more assistance. We were only here one night, but wishes that we had booked more. I will certainly go back - if only for the eggs benedict (rarely on breakfast menus).

We stayed overnight with another couple. We booked the Moroccan themed room. Room was lovely. No view from the back so if its a sea view your after I would book another room. The front of house was very knowledgeable on local restaurants, shopping and attractions. They recommended a fab Indian restaurant which didn't disappoint. The hotel is in an excellent position for all the amenities. We would def return in the future.

I stayed when on business and was impressed by the cleanliness and attention to detail in this bijou property. The downsatirs area is bright and airy, the room (mine was in a broadly Indian theme) very comfortable - the bed especially was really excellent. Breakfast was top-notch, cooked to order and served with great charm and smiles, with linene napkins! The welcome was a bit officious but overall the place is well managed and good quality. This place tries to excel and does in a nice, homely way; it is not pretentious but is unusually high quality and worth seeking out. It is not expensive either

We stayed overnight whilst on a business trip, so we dind't invest in one of the bigger or more exotic rooms. Our room, the Oriental room was small and had been accessorised in a sort of chinese way.

The theme got in the way of the room a little and there are something that were a bit odd, for example on one window the beautiful tie back curtains hung from a rail so there was light streaming in through the loops and they didn't meet in the middle - more decorative than functional. My partner happens to find it hard to sleep when there is light so for us it was an issue The other window had curtains that shut perfectly.

The tea making arrangements (we are British after all) were odd. A multi tier thing in the wardrobe was where the kettle and tea making equipment were hidden but you had to plus the kettle in on the floor and make tea on the floor.

Free wifi was fast and accessible. Our showerroom was small but perfectly adequate.

The breakfast was a delight with a reasonably but not massive english breakfast with local english saussages and perfectly cooked eggs. If you're idea of an english breakfast is a huge plate full of cheap meat this is not hte place for you, but it was my idea of a great breakfast. Like so many other places the radio was on over breakfast so irritating conversation by stupid people was broadcast into what was otherwise a quiet and peaceful room. We got it turned off for a while as we were the only ones there but it is an odd habit to impose on guests.

The staff were friendly and efficient. We were lucky enough to park on a mater right outside. More expensive than car parks further away - but we are used to London parking prices so it wasn't a big deal for us.

It was nice to stay in this part of Brighton - we have always been at the other end of the sea front before - the Georgian squares are quieter (but not quiet or remote) than the clubbing end of town and we were near the Brighton Wheel which is quite a sight.

It is a sort of boutique hotel crossed with an old fashioned B&B. Some things were B&B - the old tin containing tea bags, the iron half painted bar that was the wardrobe rail - some things were Boutique - the lovely four poster bed - a bit fragile for a hot weekend I think, but sweet for an overnight stay after a long day's work. The bed was really comfortable. The flast screen TV was good.

I treated my Mum to a night here for her birthday. I did think the hotel was mainly for romantic get-aways when I first read the reviews but after chatting with the amazingly friendly and helpful staff, I booked the Geisha room as it can be turned into a twin and our stay was fantastic.

Our room was clean and comfortable with plenty of character and the breakfast was delicious - possibly the best eggs benedict I've ever had.

Thanks to all the staff at Sea Spray - I will most definitely be staying here again at some point in the future!

We stayed in the Venice Room. A little Christmas treat for ourselves, child free. The Room was lovely and clean and nicely decorated with an amazing view over the pier from the balcony. The bed and the pillows were possibly the most comfortable we had ever had the pleasure of sleeping in! We had booked a special deal which included a bottle of champagne and breakfast in our room. There were a few mix ups over this but they were all resolved quickly and easily enough. The only slight niggle was the little signs all over the place especially in the bathroom with instructions like 'do not use the towels to remove make-up', I don't disagree with the sentiment but it does feel a little like you are being told off! Breakfast in the room was a more limited selection than we would have had in the dining room and not as large as some hotels but it was extremely delicious. Overall a lovely place to stay in a great position to enjoy all the fun that Brighton has to offer. We would certainly stay again.

Room Tip: chose a room with a balcony to get the best of the position
