After hearing so much about The Thomas Kemp I was disappointed with the the Sunday Roast offerings:

Only options on the menu: pork, lamb or nut roast.

Chose the pork. Came with no cracking. When asking for some was told no - can't have any, can't have another cut of pork and can't change the meal for an alternative and can't have money back!

Also one from frozen Yorkshire Pud and a random selection of over cooked veg.

Shocking!

“Avoid for Sunday lunch”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 July 2014 via mobile

The staffing this place are actually quite pleasant but the food is just not anywhere near as good as others nearby.

I was there in a group this afternoon. No beef or chicken on the menu (not sold out - it was never there). I had lamb - small portion and very stringy. The pork was under cooked so no crackling but roast was ok. The veggies were terrible - creamed leeks (with a roast??) cauliflower cheese and red cabbage (which was fine) and an anaemic Yorkshire. For £10 in Brighton I except better food and won't be coming back in a hurry.

“open front to back”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 July 2014

after a shakey start, we persevered and delighted we did.

Food was good....rack of ribs were a delight and the cajun accompanying sauce was terrific.

Good mixed crowd of eaters and drinkers made it very comfortable as we sat grabbing last bit of sun and our dogs sat happily watching the world go by.

Wine list could do with a bit of a refresh, but I guess thats even more subjective.

Good value food and worth a visit

“Superb sandwiches!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 June 2014

We popped in here as the first stop on a Kemp Town pub crawl last week. We sat in the charming beer garden in the lovely Brighton sunshine and realised as soon as we saw the food coming out that we were hungry!

We ordered a couple of their warm sandwiches, a fish finger and a pulled pork and both were absolutely superb. Served on an artisan soar-dough white mini baguette the fish fingers were home made fish goujons, served with homemade tartare sauce, the tasty pulled pork came with gherkins, melted cheese and pickled jalapeno pickles. Both came with a big fresh salad and gorgeous crunch chips, we could barely finish them.

The beer here is great, the staff charming, the garden a complete sun trap and the food truly excellent, what more could you want from a pub.

We'll be back!

“Tasty Tasty Food.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 May 2014 via mobile

We popped along with a couple of family members visiting from Switzerland. They love the English pub/food type of place and we were not disappointed.

Service and staff were great and the ample portions of food were all delicious. The surroundings are spacious as it wasn't too busy when we first arrived.

We did however feel that the music was very loud when you are eating! It wasn't when we first went in, however the music was turned up really loud around 9pm when an act came on. This led us to having to leave as we couldn't actually hear each other at the table talking to each other!..... Maybe suggest finishing serving food before the music starts?...... Just a thought as this prevented us from having desserts or ordering more drinks. I am sure this was only because it was in the evening, therefore I would say a lunch/daytime visit would be perfect.
