Found this place through Tripadvisor and have to go along with the excellent reviews. We stayed for three nights in Gaula, which was large, comfortable and stylish. The breakfast was great - it's not often these day to find a good breakfast cooked to order, from eggs benedict to a good old traditional fry-up. I was there for the marathon and they started breakfast an hour earlier on the Sunday so the few runners in the hotel could didn't head off on an empty stomach; I went for the porridge. The staff were excellent - very friendly, very efficient and very helpful. A really excellent stay.

This is a fabulous place to stay, and well worth the price. A beautiful old property (or two) on a square overlooking the West Pier, which has been sympathetically converted to provide the best of both worlds - lovely old floor-to-ceiling bay windows, towering ceiling heights, coving and ceiling roses and a massive free-standing bath, interwoven with all the modcons and functionality you need. For example the door into our room had a glass lobby built around it so that you still have the visual effect of the original room, but with a huge reduction in the potential noise intrusion from the corridor. And installed into this space was the vast TV and MP3 player dock, modern sofa & chair, platform bed...

But that's not even the best of it: the staff make you feel so at home, and nothing seems to be any trouble - they are friendly, professional and helpful without exception, and really deserve their #1 position (May 2011) on TripAdvisor. If you care about being treated as an individual, welcomed, and getting excellent service without stuffiness, this is the place for you.

Room Tip: Danube is lovely, but they're all unique

We stayed in the Lossie room for last weekend to celebrate our anniversary. Everything we'd read here was true. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel truly welcome and very looked after. All the staff are friendly and nothing is too much trouble - even finding us a phone charger when we'd forgotten ours. Our room was both spotless and luxurious with lots of nice touches and clever lighting. The double ended bath right under the window, with views of the sea was an absolute delight and the breakfasts were delicious.

We had a fantastic time and will definitely go back.

I stayed at the Una Hotel while I was travelling in the UK. It had a lovely homely atmosphere with friendly, helpful staff. Excellent rooms and scrumptious breakfast. Terrific location in Brighton.

My partner and I spent Easter weekend at Hotel Una (initally for 3 days in Quaile) and then ended up extending our trip for another night in Danube. We decided to stay after reading great reviews on here and also a recommendation from a friend. All the reviews were amazingly positive but I have to say the reality surpassed all expectations.

The attention-to-detail, from the design and decor in the beautifully-appointed rooms, right through to every member of staff was second-to-none. Nothing was too much trouble for them, and they really made it feel like a home from home!

Great breakfasts, cocktails to die for and an amazingly comprehensive DVD library if you want to kick back in the room instead of making the most of the Brighton nightlife.

Thankfully Brighton's a regular haunt of ours, so we'll be back at Una as soon as possible - can't recommend it highly enough.

This hotel is way up there as one of the best hotels I've stayed in over the past 10 years. The hotel itself is well laid out and the rooms are very cool. But what makes this place stand out is the staff. From the moment we arrived they were extremely helpful and friendly. They recommended restaurants and bars and each was great. We will definately be going back there as had a fantastic weekend.
