Description: With a grand Cuban-inspired interior and a leisurely, laid-back atmosphere, Havana Restaurant and Bar in Brighton is located on the historic site of the old Duke Street Theatre which dates back to 1790. The restaurant's fine food, wine and live jazz bands will inspire you to start puffing on a cigar and reading a hedonistic Hemingway novel before dinner and the dining room boasts high ceilings, dark oak wood tables, a fountain and a grand piano adding to the restaurant's colonial charm. Favourite dishes from the modern British menu include the sirloin steak served with spinach, confit potatoes and Béarnaise sauce; and the rack of lamb with rosemary potatoes, courgette marmalade, baby red peppers and basil mash.

We sat in the cocktail bar early eve on Fri planning just drinks but feeling slightly peckish we shared a few starters, delish food, very attractive restaurant and charming staff.
Cant wait to return for supper soon!

We had a lovely meal at Havana, there was a great selection of food and the prawn starter in particular was delicious. The variation of main courses satisfied both the meat eaters and veggies in our group. I had the brisket burger which I hadn't seen in many places before and the meat literally fell apart, it was very tasty. The staff were professional, attentive and very welcoming. I would recommend Havana to any of my friends if they were staying in Brighton. Well worth a visit.

The Havana is a very stylish restaurant. The staff couldn't do enough to make your visit more pleasurable. I had scallops as a starter and the Cod as my main. They were both cooked perfectly. My husband had rib eye steak, and it came perfectly rare. We were here celebrating my daughters graduation, and it was perfect!

Thai prawn starter: bland, very little taste and luke warm.
Scallops starter, 3 mushy, tasteless 20p piece sized scallops - £9.
White wine tepid, £30 bottle put in 'ice bucket' with water but no ice.
My main course burger. £15. Luke warm but tasted OK. This, of course, may be unrelated but I had to spend the next day a few feet away from a loo. Which leads me on to the gents' loos at Havana - not for the feint of heart; like a scene from the film Hostel but with more bodily fluids in the floor.
There were some plus points. The service was good and there was a great jazz band on.

Have been here a few times before and was fantastic this time was extremely disappointed the menu is still the same and the food was terrible had scallops to start which had no flavour and did not taste fresh at all, asked for medium rare steak and ended up with one that was cremated ! so luckily complained and did not have to pay for it but didnt fancy staying for pudding as was put off with the first 2 courses , dont think i will return again!
