Description: Brighton's critically acclaimed Terre a Terre is a vegetarian restaurant that will have even the most ardent carnivore waxing lyrical. Situated close to the sea-front. The decor is chic and stylish, using wooden floors and furniture to contrast with vibrant colours. But here the food is the centrepiece: dhal basmati buns with coconut curry leaf chatni, better Batter and Lemony Yemeni Relish and Thai aubergine jungle curry are just a few of the exotic and imaginative dishes you can find here. To complement the food, a large selection of organic beers, ciders and wines are available. A three course meal here costs an average of £30 per person. A refreshing take on vegetarian cuisine.

the food was good but nothing more than that. High prices, very crowdy, bad coffee. If you wanna tatse some good veggiefood, You may try Cuisine Ou'vert in Gent when you're visiting Belgium. That's high rated veggie food.

“Fabulous with a well deserved reputation”
Reviewed 21 May 2012

Amazing vegetarian food. We hadn't visited for a couple of years so we really took our time over the menu, deciding what to eat - but we made the same mistake we had previously made and ordered too much! The selection of starters to share is really fabulous, with two of each of about 5 starters. Each element was so enjoyable and distinct, the flavours fresh and sharp and the plate seemed to be set out just perfectly so that the richer dishes were punctuated with more salady dishes. Our mistake was in ordering main courses to follow. I couldn't eat more than half so ended up taking home a doggie bag - just as enjoyable the following evening - but it meant that we missed out on dessert. The restaurant was full and lively - and it deserved to be so. Do book in advance. This is vegetarian food that everyone can appreciate - they do it so well here, I only wish that other restaurants would visit and learn from these chefs who truly understand their ingredients.

“As good as ever”
Reviewed 20 May 2012

We ate here a year ago and were worried that Terre-a-Terre might be resting on it laurels, and at the same time moving up from the "expensive" to the "silly" price bracket. I am very happy to say that no such tendencies were apparent this time. The three-course pre-theatre menu at £21 was pretty good value, and the food had all the complexity of flavour that makes this place special - and managed to be thoroughly satisfying at the same time. The highlight was the desert - Nosey Parkin - a parkin pudding with lashings of delicious stem ginger, a sticky toffee sauce, praline ice-cream and a couple of slices of rhubarb to cut through the richness. Simply yummy.
A lot of care seems to have gone into choosing the wines on the list, and our Vigonier from the Pays d'Oc was the best example of this under-rated grape variety that I have come across.
Service must have been professional and good, as I don't remember much about it. My one gripe is that we were left to hang up our own coats. A restaurant charging high prices should do better than that.

“Very good with small quibble on the introduction”
Reviewed 20 May 2012

A birthday treat justified a long awaited return, the food is full of flavour, contrasting textures and unusual combinations. The rostis are particularly enjoyable as does the calorie busting chocoholic platter. The decor and overall ambience is upper mid range, a little serious. So most of our dishes for our party worked well. The cheeseboard at close too a tender was a bit much as was the figs and malt loaf but the three cheeses and biscuits lovely, so good to innovate if not always completely pulled off. The quibble? I booked a table for what I believed was 530 on a saturday. So ok we arrived 10 mins late and was met with a curt response at the front desk, insisting the booking was at 500 (the restaurant was a third full). Of course I would be happy to be clear by 800 but a little friendlier response might have been appreciated. As I parted with my £88 at the end of the meal all our party loved the food experience, hopefully next time we return the welcome will be friendlier.
