“Brilliant apartment, beautiful views, lovely stay”
Reviewed 25 July 2015 for a stay in June 2015

Me and my friends stayed here for 1 night in June and it was a very enjoyable stay. Beds were very comfy and Catherine made sure we had everything we needed for our stay. After a stressful day of student house hunting, coming back to this gorgeous modern maisonette and relaxing was just what we needed. Would recommend this place to everyone.
Thank you Catherine

“Lovely apartment, highly recommended”
Reviewed 15 July 2015 for a stay in July 2015

I booked this at short hotice to have a rare couple of days with my 20 year old son. Everything was lovely, the apartment was very large, clean, light and airy. There are a lot of stairs but that helped burn off the fish and chips.

We didn't use the kitchen but it seemed very well equipped with two dishwashers, large FF etc.

The living room was comfortable and had a side view to the sea. Bathrooms were of a good standard and immaculately clean.

The only slight issue I had (I slept in one of the back bedrooms) was being woken up by the sun at 5am. I appreciate that there are thick curtains but a blackout blind would help solve the issue. This wasn't important enough to reduce my 5 star rating, and I would happily rent this property again.

“Excellent Hen party venue”
Reviewed 5 July 2015 for a stay in June 2015

This wonderful maisonette was absolutely perfect for our party of 11 who stayed for a hen party last weekend. We were immediately impressed with the stylish and comfortable decor, and with the friendly welcome from Carmel when we arrived. Carmel gave us a guided tour and answered any questions, she also had parking permits for those guests who needed them. We found the location perfect with shops bars and a lovely park just a couple of minutes walk away. Another couple of minutes and we were on the sunny promenade at Hove where we came across a wedding in the bandstand, a well needed ice cream kiosk and further on a great bar with live music where we sat outside in the sunshine. For people with young children there is a lovely water park playground on the seafront. For us, the location was ideal for getting to and from the best night-life in Brighton and we had the best hen night we could have hoped for for our bride to be. The maisonette was extremely clean and comfortable (including the beds) and well equipped with everything we needed for our stay including DAB radios upstairs and downstairs and a big flatscreen TV in the living room . All in all a very happy, fun and relaxing weekend with plenty of space for all of us to enjoy ourselves and some great memories. Many thanks to Catherine (and Carmel) for the perfect place to stay and I would highly recommend if for others thinking of staying in Brighton.

“Amazing apartment perfect hen property”
Reviewed 5 July 2015 for a stay in June 2015

I was given the envious task of organising a hen party for one of my best friends and I didn't want to let her down. The apartment was a highlight of the weekend it has everything you could possibly want and Catherine was incredibly helpful and understanding with my endless questions via email. The bride was so overwhelmed by the apartment on arrival which was complemented by the fresh fruit bowl and bottle of fizz that greeted us on our arrival. Unfortunately Catherine was not able to greet us but Carmella (the lovely cleaning lady) gave us a tour of the property and was very friendly and helpful. The property is in a fantastic location and everything within the property was of a very high quality. I would highly recommend this property to anyone who is looking for a bit of luxury.

“Unsuitable for kids”
Reviewed 8 June 2015 for a stay in April 2015

No doubt that it is in a good location, but it isn't suitable for children at all. This apartment is at the top of a building up four flights of stairs with another flight in the apartment. The description is misleading - parking is very difficult and staying here with young children is near impossible (we had to cut our time short as it was no fun for anyone).

There is nowhere to unpack clothes or store suitcases, bar two small cupboards. There are no drawers, no bedside tables in the room with 3 single beds or box room. The box room has a pull out bed that is difficult to access, and necessitates sleeping up against a wall with the tv wire tucked behind it.

The curtains in all of the bedrooms are so thin the kids (and us) were woken at sunrise.

There were lots of teething issues with the apartment that we have passed on to the owner and hopefully she will have rectified.

I am so sorry to hear you were disappointed with your stay. You were the very first guests in the property and arrived the day after after all the new furniture, beds and sheets and just been taken out of their cellophane. Fortunately all the other guests since have been very complimentary. I’m pleased that you recognise it is in a good location. It is regarded as being the best Georgian Square on the south coast of England and it is only a matter of yards way from shops, restaurants, the sea and an attractive restored Regency garden for children and adults to enjoy.

Taking your points in turn the apartment is on the second and third floors of the building and to reach it you need to climb two flights of stairs. There are also stairs in the apartment as it is on two floors and is a maisonette. With four of your boyfriend’s under six year old children and your own newborn baby in tow and your boyfriend at work every day until late at night. I can appreciate walking up two flights of stairs with the children may have been difficult especially with all the equipment children need. Travel cots and high chairs though are provided. Climbing two flights of stairs however provides the reward of giving you fantastic views of the sea and gardens.

There are two single sized wardrobes and two additional large cupboards in the property for storage. There were three during your stay but an additional one has been added.

Regarding the curtains I have taken your comments on board. New totally blackout curtains and pelmets have been ordered for all rooms and are being fitted this week. All curtains during your stay were lined and interlined and made of a thick fabric so I am surprised you had this issue. I can appreciate babies and some people though can often be disturbed by any light at all when sleeping.

Regarding the parking it is always very easy to park outside the property before 8pm as the spaces are allocated via a resident’s permit system (guests are able to buy permits). After 8pm and between 9am it becomes more difficult as the area is unrestricted and you may need to walk into the main square to get a space but you would never have to walk more than 50m away. You will however always find a space and in Brighton this is actually a very easy area to park in.

Regarding the teething issues you were the very first guest and the issues you raised were addressed where possible. There are now two dishwashers and not one in the property. The microwave is no longer standard sized but is the largest capacity one John Lewis sells. I was not able to lower the height of the sinks so toddlers can reach them without a chair. They are however on standard sized plinths and I felt they would be uncomfortable for adults if they were lower. There are bedside tables with all beds except with the two single beds in the smallest bedroom.
