The Cavalier House Bed & Breakfast
Reviewed 4 July 2011

Cavalier House is modern, spotless, and comfortable. The owner is friendly and helpful. I cannot praise breakfast highly enough, being made from fresh, organic ingredients.

Your en-suite is in the basement. As I said above, it is lovely, modern and spotless. But to get to it, you do have to go down a small and steep flight of stairs; this could be an issue for anyone who is infirm. Also, there is no TV - not really an issue these days (there is free Wi-Fi, so if you have laptop and iPlayer etc, you'll be fine). The bed is top notch: firm, but comfortable. An excellent night's sleep, some noise aside - see below.

The location is great, being down at the seafront in the Old Town - be warned, this does mean some noise later on in the evening, but not enough to be an issue.

I would definitely return to Cavalier House and recommend it highly.

Paolo and Martina have created a great place from which to base a trip to Hastings and the area.. We stayed for 3 nights over easter weekend and had an amazing, proposal inducing time in Hastings, which capped a great trip, and was definitely aided no doubt by our acommodation and the friendliness of our hosts. Breakfast was great, every day, and they were very respectful of when you wanted to chat about your plans for the day and get advice, or to be left to enjoy you're breakfast with your partner.
If you're going to Hastings, your trip will be twice as good if you can get in to the only room at the Cavalier House, it's lovely and fairly huge too!... Book well in advance and enjoy...

Room Tip: Book in advance, go full english in the morning..!

Just back from 3 nights at the Cavalier House and have to say that Martina and Paolo are wonderful. We were given books to help us out and Martina googled a particular area we needed to visit. Breakfast was fab, the basement room is great, lovely big room with a fantastic full en suite. The Old Town is an amazing place and the location of the Cavalier is ideal. Parking is a little of a pain but hey at £3 for 24 hours its no big deal. Had a wonderful time and we will definately be going back. Thank you to our perfect hosts, see you soon!!!!

This is a wonderful place to stay. Martina and Paolo are fantastic hosts. So hospitable! The house is an over 700 year old structure that has been immaculately upkept. We had a room in the basement that was great! Very private and facing the ocean. The location is also great, close to great restaurants, the beach and the old fishing huts that are interesting to see.

This place is highly recommended!

A lovely room in a perfect location for Hastings older and better part of town, with some great restaurants just a few minutes walk away. Couple that with fantastic hospitality and a great breakfast and you can't go wrong.
