“4 Day break”
Reviewed 4 November 2013

Just come back from a 4 day stay, Had a fantastic time (this is now the 5th time we have stayed at this hotel) Wonderful staff couldn't be more attentive made us feel very special. Lovely breakfasts plenty of choice. Used the spa every day came back very relaxed.
Only had one problem we found the pillows too big but this was sorted very quickly and with out any fuss.
Cant wait to go back.

waiting/service staff in hotel and for wedding hall are brilliant ; may be bar staff in wedding hall need to be available to serve as well as clear up as more than 1person at the bar cause deadlock.can not fault food in both hotel (brill) breakfast and ok in wedding hall. SOME of the reception staff need training in smiles but generally helpful. bit poor on the arrangement side my eldest son booked family room but on arrival no children beds so 2 poor quality guest beds where added not what he or I would have chosen to sleep 2 precious (well to us) boys in, as slats drop out when bed moved (ever seen 4year old stay still in bed ?) But all in all a wonderful weekend for my youngest sons wedding. Spa bit is not so accommodating could not get slot for any treatments and being restricted on time available to take boys in pool bit of pain

Room Tip: away from left end as noise with i think was heating/ air con unit is constant

Stayed this weekend for a wedding... Hotel and staff lovely. Room nice too but shower was very hot even when we turned it down, there was also some mould on our bathroom ceiling, pool facilities good and so was breakfast. Food was ok at wedding, potatoes a bit hard but all in all we had a good experience.

I have just returned from a fantastic weekend at this hotel. The rooms were lovely and very spacious, staff were very friendly and helpfull. The use of the gym and spa was so nice. The food was delicious and the choices for breakfast was more than anywhere I have stayed for a long time. This really is a lovely hotel to stay in will definitely be returning.

Room Tip: We had the standard room and this was lovely.

went on a the dream break 2 night deal..which included breakfast, 2 course evening meal both nights, afternoon tea, 2 spa treatments and use of the health club...

this is really a lovely place with beautiful grounds, the staff also were very attentive, especially abi and samantha..

stayed in a deluxe room 38, the bed was very comfortable, but its the little touches that stand out for me...e.g complementary sparkling water both days, good biscuits, dressing gowns and slippers with good quality shampoos etc..

upon reading a couple earlier reviews in imho i found a little harsh,

would defo stay here again as i feel for the price i paid for all the above was exellent value for money..

We stayed at the Bannatyne Spa as we were visiting the Battle of Hastings sites.
The hotel is tucked away from the main road and is set in wonderful gardens.

The staff were good on arrival and we had access to our room from 130pm.
The room was interesting! The bath was in the middle of the room and the super kingsize bed had a 55in TV at the base of the bed.

Disappointingly the sofa bed was unusable, it had a mattress that was not suitable at all, not even for children. So we all slept in the super king!

The restaurant staff were great and looked after children well, the food was average, the children's menu was good and they enjoyed their meal.

Room Tip: We stayed in a superior room.

Dear Clive R ,

Thank you for placing your kind comments on Trip Advisor. I am glad you enjoyed your stay at our Hotel in one of the Superior Rooms, and also managed to visit the Battle of Hasting site very close by.

I will relay your comments to the staff that were great and looked after you and you’re your children so well. My apologies that the sofa bed mattress was not comfortable, this will be rectified without further delay.

On behalf of myself and the team at the Bannatyne Spa Hotel, we look forward to welcoming you back very soon.

First night air conditioning unit was turned off but made loud noises all night, pillows were hard. We was moved to another room as the air con unit was in need of repair, in this room the extractor fan in bathroom wasn't working at all, the hairdryer didn't work although there was another in the wardrobe and the room was darker it only had one small window.
The fish we were served was off it tasted and smelt odd, we sent it back and even the waiter said it smelt off, they were very sorry and offered us another meal but didn't want to eat there again.
Wasn't impressed with the beakfast the cereal selection was poor not enough fresh fruit, standard supermarket bread, no rolls or crusty bread. Surprised that it has a four star rating.

Dear Kay R,

Thank you for your comments on Trip Advisor after your stay in July this year. As you are aware, I have tried hard to resolve the complaint and have written with my apologies regarding the disappointment.

Please be aware the reported maintenance issues were resolved quickly. Apologies were made for the fish being served, not to the usual standard. With regards to the breakfast offerings, they are reviewed regularly and often commented on positively. I can confirm that we are a 4 Star Hotel.

On behalf of myself and the team at the Bannatyne Spa Hotel, we do hope that you will change your mind regarding the hotel and return very soon.

Best wishes,

Jamieson Berriman
