Hastings is sorely lacking a decent 'curry house' and so it was a pleasant surprise to find this place and try it out. The food was fresh, tasty and delivered with a smile. For those who like a bit of spice, follow the two chillis and you will be fine. As with some friends who visited two nights later, though, despite having made a telephone reservation earlier in the day, they appeared surprised when we showed up but luckily it was before it got too busy.

So to sum up: really good food, in a friendly little place overlooking the sea and really good vfm. Recommended.

We originally chose the restaurant for a Saturday dinner as they offered a separate vegan menu. We have returned many times since and order take away fairly frequently.
The food is tasty and interesting and as I have a dairy allergy it is wonderful being able to order from a choice without having to make lots of requests of a chef.
A top tip would be for the tandoori prawns and the vegan khursani masala. It is one of the spiciest curries I have tasted but without sacrificing flavour.
The service is efficient but unhurried so a fab place for a relaxing, freshly prepared meal.

We went to this restaurant last night, having never eaten Nepalese food before. We weren't disappointed! The service was very warm and friendly, there was a wide range of dishes to choose from and the quality was great. According to our personal preferences and experiences, we preferred Nepalese food to Indian as there is less ghee and the food seems fresher somehow. Do not hesitate Togo, you won't be disappointed.

My husband and I had a wonderful Nepalese dinner here. One meal was chicken and the other was lamb. We enjoyed each of them. They were prepared with high quality ingredients by an excellent chef. Having never had Nepalese food before, we did not know what to expect but we were pleasantly surprised with two terrific dishes! L

We eat at the Gurkha Chef four or five times a year, and it is always a pleasure. The staff are attentive without being obsequious, the food is always great and plentiful, and not over-expensive. Being on the sea-front you can get a lovely view of the sea from your table. The most important thing for me is that the food is not highly spiced - the sauces are very tasty but mild, and would suit most palates. There are hotter dishes if you want them. The frozen desserts are a bit unimaginative, I usually have the kulfi (ice-cream) which is light and refreshing.
