Just returned from a short break at Coghurst Hall.
Our Platinum caravan was very clean & modern - lovely lounge (proper furniture), kitchen well equipped but casserole dishes & mixing bowl (why on earth would I be making a casserole or a cake on holiday?) could be replaced with flat baking tins (for quickie meals like pizza, oven chips etc). Also, I thought a platinum had a dishwasher. The bedrooms were typical caravan bedrooms - the bed was fine (comfy & clean) but no space around it - we had to get dressed in the hallway!
We picked Coghurst Hall because of the lake - we both fish. However, there were very few swims we could use - less than half the lake. Most of the swims were in front of private caravans and we couldn’t use them. We later heard rumours there’d been problems with the lake a year or so ago, and they’d lost loads of fish. We wondered where the so called ‘monster carp’ were, and we’d paid for both of us to fish all week. We didn’t see anyone (casual float fishermen or serious carp fishermen) catch anything bigger than a half pound roach! Very disappointing :(
We also had a problem when we came to check out. We were ready to leave at 8am, but when we went to hand our keys in, reception was closed. So, we went round to the restaurant to have...Just returned from a short break at Coghurst Hall.

We also had a problem when we came to check out. We were ready to leave at 8am, but when we went to hand our keys in, reception was closed. So, we went round to the restaurant to have breakfast and that was closed as well! Were we too early for breakfast or too late? I’ve no idea, there were no opening times on any of the doors, so we didn’t know. Went back to reception, still closed, no idea what time it would open or what we should do with our keys…..Went back to the caravan for half hour…..Went back to reception, still closed…. There was a queue waiting by this time, there wasn’t even a box or letterbox to leave our keys in. Eventually, we found a Park cleaner and he took all our keys - hope you got them OK.
The restaurant, pool, bar, entertainment etc may have been OK, but we didn't use any of them - we went for the fishing. So if you want a cheap caravan holiday with fishing, I suggest you try another site.More
