“Nice but dated.”
Reviewed 26 July 2014

We found this independent hotel online and booked for one night. If there had been an option for 'good' between average and very good this would have been my choice - it was better than average on some fronts but a little lacking in others.
Positives - clean, refurbished room, friendly, helpful, attentive manager, large garden, which our room overlooked, very nice breakfast.
Negatives - the awful carpets on stairs and in hallways, the bed - a little too soft and rather uncomfortable - and the thin walls. We could easily hear normal level conversations in the next room so not a good option for a romantic break!
On the whole it feels rather dated but they are obviously trying hard to satisfy with an old building in this residential area on the outskirts of a run down seaside town. Quite good value and OK for a one-night stopover.

Nice hotel, very clean. Our room was very large. One double and a single and still plenty of space.
In room tray restocked daily as was the bathroom. Plenty of supplies for us.
Breakfast cooked fresh and exactly as you asked for. Cereals and juice as well as a cooked breakfast.

We stayed in a superior double for the night which had a new tiled shower room as well as a separate toilet.
The room was well presented and clean and very large.
Breakfast was very good.
All in all we enjoyed the hotel very much.

Recent upgrading works in the bar and lounge with first class breakfast and good free parking make this small Hotel worth a visit !

Close to station, shops and sea front - its nice rooms and good welcome make up for a little lack of tlc.

Prices are spot on the street scene allows a good nights sleep.

This is an old-fashioned sort of hotel complete with crazily patterned carpets, flock wallpaper and portrait of HM the Queen. Personally I love that kind of stuff but it's probably not for everyone. We received a friendly welcome. We had a refurbished room, which was fairly large, spotlessly clean and in my opinion well supplied with tea, coffee, toiletries etc for the price of the room. Although the corridor seemed quite noisy (sound of television from other rooms), the room was very quiet, which was lovely. The bed was comfortable. On the down side, our room was a bit gloomy, a little on the chilly side, and smelt slightly of stale smoke, which was a great shame and would put me off staying here again.

Huge room, kingsize bed, clean, good size wardrobe space. There are some ground floor rooms available but none with level access - you still have to go up and down a couple of steps. However, we managed the stairs down to our basement room, although the handrail is on one side only. Everything you need for a basic, good value bed and breakfast with the added bonus of lovely, friendly, helpful staff.

I had a comfortable stay in this rather dated and basic hotel. Ok for bed and breakfast near the sea.I was very happy with the standard of cleanliness and facilities in the room. Breakfast was very good.
