Owner description: The first castle built by William the Conqueror in 1067 now shows a 20-minute program called "The 1066 Story."

This "Norman castle" consists mainly of the ruins of a church that was destroyed by Henry VIII. The introductory video presentation explains in great detail about the Battle of Hastings and the construction and destruction of the castle. I do feel that it may be a better site if managed by English Heritage. The trip up to the castle on the lift was fun and the views across Hastings and the surrounding countryside are quite stunning.

Cheap to go in but its not even worth the 4.50 GBP. . Theres a good video show but even that seemed a bit tired. Has great historical potential but needs to be utilisd better. I presume the entrance fee is more a way of ensuring that what little there is remains intact.

Lovely trip up the cliff rail system and enjoyed a tour of the scenic historic castle and grounds. I recommend you do the little presentation they do by film to explain 1066. My only disappointment was there was no mention of the smugglers.

pass this castle yet noticed it was only ruins, so taking small children there would be a waste of time and money as they would be dissappointed!! was atleast £6 for an adult!!
