“Surprisingly great!”
Reviewed 20 August 2014

I hadn't visited here for almost 7 years and there is no denying the place needs a few upgrades here and there, whether that's new carpet or less 'dated' setting/tables. However, they have a new menu and a great selection of different items including a fantastic mix platter main which satisfies anybody who likes a bit of everything. The whole family were really happy with the food and service and couldn't fault the quality. A touch of paint and re-furb would make this place ace.

“Excellent food and service for the customer but not the staff!”
Reviewed 14 August 2014

We ate at this restaurant this evening and the food and service were excellent. However before we ate we witnessed a younger waiter being verbally abused by an older colleague and he was then slapped at the side of the head. A dreadful display which should not go unremarked - we didn't intervene as we didn't want the lad to be treated even more badly after we had left. I hope the restaurant manager/owner reads this and takes a greater interest in his staff.

“You won't just visit the once”
Reviewed 29 July 2014

One of a party of 7 on a Friday evening. The understated ambience & calm atmosphere made an enjoyable experience. The staff are welcoming, courteous & attentive, but not too much. The food was very good, freshly cooked & plentiful. Try the Lamb Byriani, very tender with excellent flavor. I need to go back to try different dishes. The Bangla beer is served with a lovely glass & compliments spiced food so well. Everyone had plenty to eat & enjoyed our evening.

We've been to this restaurant several times and have enjoyed it very much, the food is sooo tasty, and flavoursome, it's freshly cooked and presented beautifully, the staff and service is very good and there is a nice ambience in the room with soft music playing in the background and attentive waiters looking after your every need. Would definitely recommend it. Kind regards jacnvic......

“An awful experience”
Reviewed 30 June 2014

We were a party of 9 on Saturday 28 June 2014. Quite a late booking, so initially pleased they could fit us all in. Our party was a mixture of locals ('Flavours' regulars) and visiting family from afar. Flavours has never let us down in the past - the food is excellent, as it was this visit.

The problem? 1. Flavours sat our party between two extremely raucous 'Hen Parties'. 2. There was a 60 minute delay in delivering food. Because of the raucous noise of the hen parties, it was impossible for our group of 9 to have any sustained conversation.

This ruined an important inter-family gathering, the occasion being a baby arriving two days later.

'Flavours' was very busy that evening (which is great). It is a testament to the quality of their food and service. However, on this occasion we feel strongly that our (late) booking should not have been accepted - or, at the very least we should have been warned about the 'Hen Parties' that decimated our space and enjoyment.

Message to 'Flavours' management: Please think much more carefully about mixing 'Hen Parties' with loyal (somewhat less) local, regular customers.

Raj D, Manager at Flavours of India, responded to this review, 16 January 2015
Dear Silverhill,
First & fore most I would like to thank you for your honest and constructive criticism and would like to start of by sending you our deepest apologies. We especially feel remorse as this was a special family occasion and being a family run restaurant we understand how important family occasions are.
We accept total responsibilty of our mistake by taking the booking on that particular night. The table which you were seated on was intentionally left empty due to the fact that we had a few large group bookings that evening (1 being a rather excited hen party). I believe you had made the booking on that Saturday evening, but unfortunately the member of staff who took you booking was not aware of the situation with not taking anymore bookings or at least advising any walk in customers of the situation.
Referring to the 60 minute wait... as you mentioned in your comments the food is always of a good standard, this is due to the fact that everything is cooked fresh to order and as busy as we get (especially on a weekend) we will not compromise on the quality of our food therefore at busy times our guests do have to wait a little longer for there meals. I am sure you can understand our point of view and I hope you can sympathise with us.
In regards to the being a regular and valued customer, we value all of our guests and are especially grateful to have loyal guests like your self and would always bend over backwards to resolve any bad experiences. Which leads me to ask you kindly to get in touch with me directly via email so that I can come to a solution and regain your valued custom.

I hope that we can come to an amicable conclusion and I hope that you can accept our sincerest apologies of what can be only be explained as a one of bad experience.

Yours sincerely,
Raj@flavoursofindiahastings.co.uk
