This is a fascinating place to visit. Full of historic charm. It is however a little difficult to navigate due to the large amount of fishing equipment stored on the beach. lots of trip hazards so take great care. It is very popular with artists and painters alike. You can see men repairing nets in the traditional way.

Well worth a visit The Lifeboat Station is close by and also worth a look.

The smell of the sea mingled with fish, and the noise of the gulls, makes you feel that you are at the seaside without all the penny arcades and music blasting out all over the place. A lot of work is going on in this area to improve it.Leave it alone I say its perfect as it is.Plenty of food and drink on offer small shops to browse in, the fisherman's museum. Its a working beach so no good for sunbathing etc but a short stroll takes you to a sunbathing beach if this what you want.

The Stade is home to the largest beach launched fishing fleet in Europe. Great to watch the boats being pushed into the water by specialised 'tractors' and being winched back up on cables. Be aware that it is a working beach so keep children close. We were lucky enough to see a practice launch of the Hastings Lifeboat. Lots of fish sellers. Museums. Walk along the shingle.

There's always something going on at the Stade. When ever there is an event at the Stade you can alway guarantee there will be plenty of people turn up. A good atmosphere..
