“Very Disappointing”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 February 2014

I have stayed in a few Premier Inns, and to date this is my least favourable experience.

We were visiting Hastings for a family funeral. After a very long journey through horrendous weather and unfamiliar roads, taking us about 5 hours instead of 3, we arrived at 22.02, to find that the restaurant would not serve us after 22.00. As we did not wish to eat at the suggested 'Macdonalds' we ended up eating a sandwich that we had taken on our journey. We decided that we wanted a drink at the bar, however despite 3 members of staff seeing us standing at the bar waiting, none of them asked us if they could help. Finally one of them came over and served us whilst muttering to 'herself' that she was not signed in to do so.

I would suggest that there are more than 2 tea bags put in the rooms as standard, as for a couple, one cup of tea each without having to go to reception to request more is a little 'stingy'.

Breakfast was ok, however I felt the staff were not professional and their communications between each other were not discrete, quiet or appropriate for a dining room.

The redeeming features of this stay were that the member of Premier Inn staff who was there for our 'check-in' was very polite, and the room was clean.

I suggest that Premier Inn should seriously consider if the Brewers Fayre is good for their business. If I had any power within Premier Inn, I would have managers evaluate the benefits of being associated with this particular Brewers Fayre or have Brewers Fayre staff being trained by staff from Richmond Premier Inn, who were faultless.

I would certainly not visit this Premier Inn again.

We stayed arrived New Year's Eve for a couple of nights relaxation and had a good stay. Staff were very welcoming and helpful, our room was plenty big enough with good bathroom attached. Good bed, TV etc.
Also enjoyed the restaurant attached. Was a busy place, but we timed it right and got nice, fast service and the food was really enjoyable.
Having McDonalds over the road was also handy if you fancied a cheap breakfast.
Definitely will book again soon for a weekend getaway.

The Premier Inn and staff are well above average - good/very good. The restaurant attached to it is too popular with non-residents to make it reliable. Last time we went there, we were in a cramped corner and everything was too hectic for comfort. This may have been because it was one of their special nights (a curry night, I think) - on a previous visit we had a much happier experience.

The reception staff were very friendly and the hotel was clean. It was easy to get down the hill into Hastings (by car). There was limited parking due to sharing a car park with the Brewers Fayre downstairs. Would stay here again but would not eat in the attached restaurant as the food and customer service was terrible and it was really dirty.

The cleaners were using a machine which was full of dirty water and they parked it outside our room - making the room and the whole floor stink musty.

Really impressed! Clean adequate sized room with a fab family restraint attached!

Only bad points is parking is on a hill so tricky for disabled or pushchair users?! And there is not enough staff reception often unmanned and long wait at bar for service.

I stayed here for a one night business trip. I arrived late in the evening and the staff were very welcoming. Check in was hassle free and I was in a rush to get to dinner which the staff appreciated. The adjoining restaurant/pub wasn't the best but it did hot pub grub! I would recommend this hotel and I wouldn't hesitate in staying again on business.
