We booked a two night stay midweek in the White Rock and arrived on a Monday. We had opted for a rear facing room as we wanted some peace and quite. My daughter also wanted a double bed to herself and they offer twin rooms with two double beds in the rear facing rooms.
We managed to park in the car park at the back, which was a bonus and found our way to the reception. The staff were very friendly and helpful and we were shown up to our room via the mini lift, which is minute but it's better than dragging your cases up the stairs.
The room was lovely, one of the most spacious I have ever stayed in and very clean and well appointed. The Hotel is very central to everything, 15 minutes walk to St Leonards one way and about the same to the old town the other way. Of course, the beach is just opposite and you have miles of options to choose where to sunbathe.
We had drinks in the bar that evening and breakfast the following morning, which I have to say was very impressive and good value. It's on top of the room price (£94.00 per double with double beds per night) but you get 20% off so it was well worth it. The full English is great and the fruit platter very nice too.
We had dinner on our last night because the terrace is such a lovely place to sit. Portions are very large, so we struggled a bit. The only disappointment is that they don't have a children's menu and we had to pay full price for an enormous sausage and mash and there was not a chance that a seven year old could finish it, which was a a bit of a waste. A children's menu would be a sensible idea..
It's a lovely hotel with great staff in an excellent location and my only gripe is that the walls and doors in our room seemed to be made of paper. We were treated to our neighbours televisions until 1am in the morning both nights as well as loud conversations and stomping about. The the guy across the corridors television woke us at 7am on our final day and we could hear every word of his telephone conversation. We might as well have been sharing a room with him. The doors have gaps underneath and even two doors and a corridor did not prevent the noise from waking us up. It's a shame really as otherwise this was a lovely place to stay.
