“Nice hotel, central location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 July 2013

We were visiting family and they recommended the White Rock. Overall, it was very nice. We loved sitting on the patio for breakfast and dinner. Our room was clean and newly redone, but we did have a number of small things that were broken or not working properly. The staff was very helpful in getting those corrected. The hotel was perfectly situated for long walks along the beautiful promenade, although the pebbly beach did not appeal to me at all. We were there for "Pirate Day" - Hastings is definitely a quirky town with a unique personality.

Sitting overlooking the sea in the morning is wonderful, starting work early I try to pop in for a latte and a breakfast when the sun is shining which is great as they are open to non residents very early.

A really calm and lovely start to the day

Our first time in Hastings was a very pleasant experience mostly because of the quality of the hotel.
Pluses:
- The food was Top quality. We started the day with the full Audreys breakfast which was splendid value for money and kept us going until dinner. All our dinners were impressive and high quality.
- Nice outside terrace and guest areas.
- Very friendly and polite staff even if the terrace and bar areas were extremely busy at times.
- Very nice seaview room, spacious and clean.
Only minuses the very narrow lift and the fact that the wi-fi didn't work in room on our last day and couldn't be fixed.

Stayed at this hotel as a surprise for my birthday.

We stayed in one of the premier rooms at the front of the hotel, with a Juliette balcony overlooking the beach.

I could not fault this hotel at all, the room was lovely, the bathroom was great, the bed was comfy, the breakfast was a bargain!

The only thing I would mention is that the road out the front of the hotel is very busy, 24/7. As the weather was so hot we slept with the window open and it can be a bit like sleeping on the side of an A-road!!!

Lovely big rooms, very clean and lovely big bathrooms. Great location and sea view rooms are great - will be a brilliant location once the pier is reopened. Twin rooms have two double beds!

Nice to be able to have a cocktail on the terrace in the warm weather.

After wasting a few weekends of good weather, I decided to act and booked this hotel at the last minute and was not sure what to expect as it was slightly on the higher side on the rates..but after the visit, realized that it was good value for money and I had a great time..very neat rooms, spacious and well maintained, I booked one with a sea view and it added to the feel good. The cafe is very good and its a nice place to hangout if you sit on the tables outside..the weather surely added to the overall experience, but this is one good hotel to stay if you visit Hastings..

Only one issue is that its slightly dodgy if you have a baby buggy..there is no step free access and the rotating door in the entrance does not help..but you can get it through the cafe..

Room Tip: Get a room in the front, the rear ones open to some car park..not great..

I have stayed at the White Rock many times and always enjoy the hospitality I find there. The staff is friendly and always willing to help and the food in the restaurant is fine.As the bar/restaurant can be busy at times I find the separeted area which is exclusively for hotel guests very convenient at times. The only drawback I see are the many stairs and small/slow elevator which cam be somehat of an inconvenience at times. But then the hotel ataff is always willing to assist.
