“Great Service and Friendly Staff”
Reviewed 20 November 2013

Hotel overlooking the sea front was perfect . The staff were friendly and efficient, The hotel was clean, the breakfast was very good, and overall an excellent experience. Would recommend this hotel , but book a sea view room for the best experience

Room Tip: pick a sea view room

The owner has made a good job of bringing this Victorian hotel into the 21st Century. Rooms are freshly decorated in period colours with large modern showers (no bath) and comfy beds. The narrow corridors and odd creaky floorboard belie it's history but that only emphasises how well it's been done, The breakfast is cooked to order with absolutely perfect eggs and mushrooms. Has a car park, rare in this location, though a bit tight. Right on the promenade but not noisy inside or out. The pier may be derelict but has it's own charm being full-on burned out skeletal shell rather than just down at heel.

Room Tip: Can't beat the sunrise and sunset from a seaview room with balcony (vestigial)

As soon as I entered through the revolving door I loved this hotel. The bar maybe the ugliest that I have ever seen but there are so many good things about this place that even that can be overlooked. The rooms are spacious and the beds are huge, which was such a luxury. Friendly and helpful staff made our short stay very enjoyable. I am sure we will be back.

Overall a good hotel, Our room was a superior King and was very nice, the bed was very comfortable, bathroom was very modern and clean. Despite the beginnings of the predicted storm raging outside, the room remained very quiet, would have happily stayed the second night we had booked but we made the decision to leave because of the severe weather warnings and the need to travel a fair distance home. We managed to get parked in the free car park (space for 16 cars), so for us parking was spot on! There are a lot of stairs but there is a lift,if somewhat small.
It is a dog friendly hotel, dogs are allowed in the dining room which I didn't particularly like but they are clear they are dog friendly so can't grumble. Have to say though all the dogs were well behaved!

Lovely bar/dining room with a terrace and a strict no smoking rule on the outside terrace.

All staff were very pleasant and helpful. Was shown to our room and that doesn't happen very often anymore! We would consider staying here again.

Room Tip: Go for a sea view room, no point in staying on the sea front of you can't see the Sea!

Opposite the sea front, you can sit in the bar/restaurant regardless of the weather and enjoy a drink. The staff are lovely and friendly and the room we stayed in had a huge comfy bed and again that sea view.
Breakfast is extra and ok, my bacon had been cooked in the oven and was tough and the egg over cooked, but a great sausage and the coffee is good.
The hotel is also animal friendly which we did not realise when we booked and it would possibly of put us off, we're glad we didnt notice as the cleaning staff do a great job and we did not find a single dog hair.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view

I stayed here after cycling from Brighton. The staff were really great and helped me find a place to store my bike safely. They also helped me out with a map of Hastings and recommended places to go out to eat. The rooms I had were fantastic, spotlessly clean and really nicely set out. A really lovely, clean, peaceful spot by the sea. Great value and lovely staff.

We stayed here over seven years ago when house hunting -it was being refurbished back then and was 'ok'. We no longer live in Hastings having moved and stayed at the White Rock in early October. The place is fantastic -the owner is friendly as are the staff. the food is good and there is a large bar /lounge area with great views of the sea.

Parking was no problem at back of hotel and there was a real mix of people. Close to the Theatre and amenities -would happily go back again. Not a lot for kids but it was just the two of us for this trip.

Room Tip: Has to be one with a view of the sea but these are pricier.
