As a group of three couples, we booked for a Saturday stay at this charming establishment. I and my partner arrived first and were met by the delightful proprietor who ensured that we parked in the reasonably-priced secure underground car park. He then assisted with cases before offering complimentary refreshments in the dining room, ably assisted by Dusty the schnauzer who was most friendly.

Our room on the first floor was excellent and furnished in a modern style. Among its facilities were flat-screen TV, DVD player, DAB radio, tea and coffee, mineral water and most unusually, face cloths and sumptuous bathrobes. There was a very large shower in an open-plan bathroom. Lighting comprised modern recessed lamps along with more traditional bedside lamps. The bed and bedding seemed to be of very high quality. The overall effect was of a high-end hotel.

Overnight the premises, although fully-occupied, were very quiet with only a little road noise; but then we did have the window open. We slept well on the firm and comfortable king sized mattress.

The following morning the six of us rocked up for breakfast which had a tremendous choice of foods. We had the traditional English which was excellent and was accompanied with endless cafetiere coffee, tea and toast. Sunday papers were provided.

This place is of the highest quality. The accommodation is first rate, the owner is charming and helpful, the food is excellent and plentiful and the sea and town centre are a very short walk away. In short, I don’t think that you are likely to do better in the area. What are you waiting for?

(Feb 2012) We only stopped one night, due to being on business but would like to stay again. We stopped in the superior king with sea view which has beautifully modern décor and was extremely relaxing. The owner ‘Seng Loy’ was very pleasant and welcoming. The breakfast was lovely also.
We would recommend this hotel without hesitation.

Room Tip: The superior king with sea view - Room 3

We've had a pretty stressful time recently (job-front, moving house, kids), so my wife and I decided to treat ourselves to a weekend away. We have tried other places of late, but none have left a strong impression - they were neither good nor bad - just bland. The type of establishments you forget in 5 minutes. So off we went to Hastings House, the rationale being its not let us down in the past and has always been memorable.
What a splendid decision! Everything is as we remembered it - great rooms, fab views, charming and attentive hosts, scrumptious breakfasts. Even the weather favoured us, it being sunny with a fresh, bracing nip in the air. Lovely strolls to Hastings Town, all that sea air sets up the appetite a treat!
Seng and Elizabeth certainly know about hospitality, and they have been consistently excellent over the years. This was our first time this year, I daresay it won't be our last. Cannot recommend it highly enough. Enjoy this locale, stressed out city person, because you deserve it!

Room Tip: If available, pay a little extra for the sea view rooms. If you like baths, definitely book room 6...

I stayed at Hastings House in September 2011 and couldn't fault it. I arrived very late on a Sunday night without being able to confirm my booking, was met by Seng who helped me to park, carrried my bags upstairs and offered me a complimentary wine. The room was beautiful as were the delightful breakfasts that followed. The place is spotless and the atsmosphere very relaxed. I had travelled from Australia to Italy, and then on to Hastings and can say that this was the most pleasant stay of the journey. Regards to Seng, Elizabeth and the gorgeous Dusty

We arrived at 4pm and were welcomed with coffee and biscuits, before going up to our room, room 5. The room is stunningly decorated and has lovely views out to sea; the bed is large and comfortable, and the shower room immaculate. What more can I say!

Breakfast was also pretty good; we are vegetarian and they catered very well for us. My only slight criticism is that the breakfast is a little small, but it does not stop me from giving them 5 stars.

Room Tip: There are three sea facing rooms; 3, 5 and 7. I think these are probably the best.

My husband and i have just returned from staying the night at Hastings House and will be looking at booking up again and taking our daughter. We stayed in room 6 which had the biggest bath i have ever seen in it. The room was lovely and couldn't find any faults at all. We would certainly recommend staying there and we can't wait to go back. The breakfast was fantastic and cooked to perfection with lots to choose from. Seng and Elizabeth were fantastic hosts and really made you feel welcome, their passion shines through. A very big thank you to them and not forgetting Dusty who is adorable and superbly behaved.

Room Tip: We had room 6 which is at the top of the house, lots of stairs but well worth it, lovely room and no...
