We stayed 2 nights in room 4 which is a double. Beautifully clean and well equipped, very friendly greeting with tea and biscuits plus helpful advice. The breakfasts are superb and freshly cooked. The location is convenient and suggest it is worth paying for the nearby underground car park. We went there because of the good reviews and were not disappointed. We noted before booking that room 4 does not have a lot of space but it is fine for a few nights. The recommended seafood restaurant (Webbes) was excellent.

We stayed overnight recently at Hastings House. The owner was very friendly and helpful, the hotel and room were spotless and decorated to a high standard and the breakfast was faultless with lots of choice and fresh, quality ingredients. Unfortunately we were given a tiny lower ground floor room which was described as a luxury double. The room was cramped, dark and uncomfortably hot. The bed was a tiny double which was very uncomfortable as my husband and I were squashed. We had to sleep with the window open all night because of the heat which didnt feel very secure and also we were situated right by a noisy drain. The hotel was full so we couldnt move.

Room Tip: Don't have a lower ground floor room!

My wife and I had a great two night stay at Hastings House and i would be hard pressed to point out any negatives about the Hotel or the owners. Great location for this part of the coast so a good base from which to travel. Breakfast each morning was first class as was the service. The Room we were in was Number 8 which was a Luxury Double room, it was decorated to a very high standard and was very comfortable. If i had to point out a negative, it would be the room size, which would not suit two larger adults as its a bit on the small side. Also the glass side to the bathroom panels which allow an unhindered view into the bathroom, i prefer privacy,so would remove the viewing windows lol. Seng and Elizabeth were lovely and very helpful. They recomended a restaurant across the square where we had our first Nepalese meal and it was excellent.
All in all, a great trip and we would recomend this B&B to everyone. Book and Enjoy.

Room Tip: Buy a Fan if you get hot at night, rooms are warm.

We stayed here for three nights after hearing good reviews on Trip Adviser. We were visiting National trust properties in the area and this was a very good central base for us. The owner "Seng" was very welcoming (along with his staff), helping with the luggage etc.and nothing was to much trouble. Breakfast was fine with choices of either full english or continental style. Although the room was very small, it was clean and spotless and we would stay here again when in the area.

Room Tip: We had a room in the basement (No.3) if you need more space go for an upstairs one and if you are to...

Recently stayed at Hastings House and this hotel was absolutely fantastic. Cannot fault breakfast, rooms or service, the decor is chiq and unique, bed was more comfy then our own! Made to feel welcome the moment we stepped through the door, will definitely return and recommend to anyone who's looking for something special.

We had a weekend stay here and I have to say this is a stunning B & B and deserves all the positive reviews it has received. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel most welcome by Seng and Elizabeth. I had researched B & B 's before organising our weekend trip and I was not disappointed!
The room was gorgeous and the attention to detail was impressive. The breakfast menu was varied and extensive. It is fair to say we were spoilt for choice. The food was delicious. Both Seng and Elizabeth were happy to help with any queries we might have about the area and it seemed as if nothing was too much trouble.
My only disappointment was we were only there for a weekend break. However, we are certainly hoping to return at some point in the not too distant future.
All in all a wonderful place.

The Hastings is a claasical white painted Victorian sea front terraced house - narrow but tall extending over several floors. Has light attractive breakfast room reception area but no other facilities.
Hastings interioor has been renovated recently with an attractive modernish design with bold colours.
Our room was the best in the house on the top floor.. not huge but bright, light and airy with 3 bay window and good (angled) seafront view. But the long & steep stairs were a challenge with a 2 week holiday suitcase (use an overnight bag !). Seng was a very professional host belied his long 5* expernience in the industry. Starting with a welcome drink , an attention to detail on breakfast food allergies, a spot-on restaurant tip he cant be faulted. Breakfast was also great . We enjoyed our stay and can recommend - dont expect a luxury hotel experience but its a top class B&B.

Room Tip: Top floor seafront room in purple
