We stayed for a long weekend. We were greeted by Dusty the dog and Seng. A very warm welcome, Seng couldn't do enough for us including a nice cup of tea after our journey.

Overall it was more expensive than what we would normally pay for a few nights away. Having said that, we went for the most expensive room as it was our anniversary-highly recommended though Beautiful seaside view, very spacious and luxurious, glad we went for it.

Breakfast down stairs was perfect. Yummy food and attentive Seng to bring more toast, tea or juice when we needed it.

Overall a lovely stay and would not hesitate going back.

We first went to Hastings House last year as my husband wanted to return to the town where he spent many happy holidays with his grandmother. Our first experience of Hastings House was excellent and therefore we decided to return this year and came away with the same feelings as last year. An excellent bed and breakfast where you are made to feel very welcome. Extremely clean and the rooms are excellent. We are planning to return again next year.

I don't usually go for b & be, but the pictures looked good. From walking into this hotel to leaving I was given first class treatment. It was 100% pleasure. Every thing about this place is class. Wish I could have stayed longer as didn't want to leave. Breakfast first class too and Sent opened up early for breakfast to accommodate my work needs. Can't praise this place enough!

Room Tip: I stayed in room 1. No great view but 1 great room!

Well, OK, there is no Sauna, jacuzzi or gymanasium but that's about where the difference ends....

Seng Loy and his team give every attention to every detail of their operation that you would expect in the very best hotels, where he tells me he learnt his trade. He has carried all this forward into his own miniature 5 star operation. Nothing is too much trouble for him, nothing is left to chance. If you have no other reason to go to Hastings, go anyway, just to stay at the Hastings House!
No, it's not cheap, but that's not what Hastings House is about. Plenty of cheaper establishments around if that's what you really want, but I'll be surprised if anyone who ever stayed here would regret a single penny spent

Room Tip: The rooms are not directly sea facing but those at the front look over the Warrior Square gardens with a view of the sea to the right. There are 2(I think) basement rooms which have no view at all and smaller but are cheaper than the upper rooms yet equally well prepared and designed to maximise clever use of space. Re room 8 (padme 46 review). We stayed here, so understand what was said but the main windows are frosted and the upper windows open separately from the main ones, so ventilation without loss of privacy is adequate for most situations. Haven't been in the room on a scorching hot day, though we were there for the warmest Sunday in May (25th) this year and no problem whatever.
