“Stunning cottage and grounds”
Reviewed 16 September 2015 for a stay in September 2015

We had a wonderful week staying in Badgers Lodge. The cottage is decorated and furnished to a very high standard and the grounds are stunning. The cottage is surrounded by well kept beautiful gardens including ponds and gazebo seating area. Best of all there is exclusive use of a private pool and gym. It is pure luxury. If you're bringing a dog the cottage has a secure garden and is surrounded by plenty of countryside walks.
The cottage is only a couple of miles from the beautiful town of Hastings and there is plenty of sight seeing in this area of the country. We have visited Canterbury, taken a walk along the white cliffs of Dover, relived the battle of Hastings at the 1066 Abbey and battlefield, and can't recommend highly enough a trip along the coast to the wonderful city of Brighton (home of choccywoccydoodah!) Unfortunately the area is not too dog friendly no access to beaches (ok after 30th September) Brighton pier and Hastings castle to name a few.
We have had quite a bit of rain but the cottage has a handy conservatory with a washer and sink, perfect for wet people, clothes, boots and dogs! Also have access to a tumble dryer in the main house if required.
We wouldn't hesitate to come and stay here again in this 5* accommodation. Even my husband agrees and he is notoriously difficult to impress.
The guys that run the cottages are great and our stay has included such lovely touches, a fruit bowl, milk and cider in the fridge and fresh flowers on the table.
We have had a great holiday!!!!!!

“Fantastic”
Reviewed 3 September 2015 for a stay in August 2015

We had a fantastic week at Badgers den , the cottage was immaculate and the gardens beautiful. The location was perfect for long walks in the country park with spectacular views and ideal to explore Sussex. The children loved the indoor pool and had it to themselves all week ,with no time restrictions meant that after a long day exploring we could all relax in the pool in the evening. The bed was very comfortable with good quality cotton bed linen , the children had the camp beds which were also very comfortable.
The welcome hamper of tea ,coffee ,sugar was lovely with a bowl of fruit , fresh roses and blueberry muffins , great after a long journey.. Chris and Erik were great hosts and run a fantastic business . Well worth a visit.

“An amazing place to stay”
Reviewed 2 September 2015 for a stay in August 2015

I can't recommend this cottage highly enough. The place was so clean and the extra touches were really lovely and thoughtful. There were muffins and sweet treats for the kids on arrival and some milk (and bottles of cider!) in the fridge for a welcome cup of tea after a long drive. Everything has been done to a high standard and at times, you do feel as if you're in a luxury hotel.
The cottage is perfectly situated for exploring the area and everything was a short drive away so we were able to fit in a lot of sightseeing (Rye, Camber Sands, Battle, Pevensey, Herstmonceaux and of course Hastings itself)!
Kids absolutely loved the pool and had a great time playing with the numerous toys provided. In fact, they didn't even want to leave the cottage and would have been happy just messing about in the pool all day!
Chris and Erick were great - friendly and very helpful. We had an amazing time and would definitely love to visit again.

Liked best: The cleanliness of the place and of course the pool!
Liked least: Internet connection wasn't too great so kids couldn't watch their fave programmes - although that's probably not too bad a thing!

“Wonderful cottage!!”

My family and I have had a wonderful week at your beautiful cottage. From the minute I booked the holiday I was impressed with the service. I had some questions which were answered straight away.

We parked the car, amazed by the beautiful gardens. Got our key from a safe hanging on the wall. It was great to have the privacy while settling in. Walking into the cottage we spotted a basket with crisps, biscuits, tea, coffee, sugar and sweeties for our daughter. In the living room there was a fruit bowl overflowing with fruit! Also a fresh bouquet of roses on the table. There was a bottle of milk in fridge as well as 2 bottles of cider!! The settee had covers on it as we had a dog with us. There was plenty of room to store clothes, a vanity table in the conservatory for make up/ hair stuff etc. There were 2 big bathrooms, one with a separate shower and HUGE bath and other with a walk in shower with two shower heads. One being a big square one. Felt like I was in a spa! Apart from that the kitchen had everything you could possibly need for a self-catering holiday!! Our cottage had a dishwasher, washing machine and there was a tumble dryer in a separate utility room used by the owners which we were allowed to use as well. There was also a cupboard full of board games for kids which was a lovely touch! The TV was massive with free Amazon instant video and freesat channels.

Once we settled in we went to see Chris who showed us around the pool area and gym and he also gave us a map with local walks and tide times. We had a look around the gardens and we were told that we can go in them as we please. They are truly breathtaking and it's obvious the owners take great pride in up keeping them.

We ordered groceries online before arrival and they were delivered in the evening. The first night there we discovered just how comfy the bed really is!!! It's pure luxury...like sleeping on a cloud and add to that the duck down pillows and duvet...perfection!! I have never slept so well on holiday. The fold out bed our daughter slept on was also comfy!

The outside area was gated and partly decked so safe for dog and kids. There was a table with 4 chairs and two reclining chairs and a coal bbq with all utensils. Also a hose to clean boots/dog etc.

The cottage is set in the Hastings Nature Reserve Park and there are plenty of paths and trails on the doorstep. Some harder then others. We walked to the North seat which had stunning views of the area. Also had a walk down to Covehurst Bay Beach (Fairlight Glen) which was very steep so walking boots are recommended as well as a bottle of water! Its a beach shared with nudists but we were lucky to have it to ourselves
The walk to Hastings is lovely too.

Apart from the many walks with the dog we also visited Rye, Camber Sands for the sandy beach, Hastings, Pett Level beach which was very nice and deserted!! Also caught the train from Hastings to Brighton for a day trip out.

We used the pool most evenings and had it to ourselves. It was lovely and warm even in the summer. Perfect. The seats in the pool area were very comfy and we were allowed to bring the dog with us as long as she didn't jump in the water. The pool had a lot of toys, arm bands and woggles. Perfect for having los of fun!

I would recommend this cottage to everyone for its luxury, comfort, friendly owners and of course the location.

Thanks Chris and Eric, you have exceeded our expectations.
