I booked this for my husband and I for a special holiday as he had been abroad a long time. It was perfect in every way. Not far from the main attractions in Hastings and also within reasonable distance of Rye. The owners were friendly and helpful and it was a bonus to find the cottage fully equiped with everything even a hair dryer and board games! Best part was finding snacks and drinks and fresh cut flowers. The cottage was very clean and comfortable. The pool and hot tub were lovely after a day out walking.
Had an excellent stay at Badgers Den. The cottage is really super, very clean, and is conveniently situated between Rye and Hastings in a lovely quiet location. In a good spot for some nice walks as well. Would definitely go again.
Warm reception and excellent welcome pack. Lovely gardens and facilities, especially the use of indoor, heated swimming pool and outside hot tub! The cottage was superbly equipped together with en-suite facilities and a family bathroom/shower. Dog friendly. Ideally situated as a base to explore the South Downs of East Sussex and also the coastal towns/villages and amenities. Thoroughly recommend this opportunity, and the owner who couldn't have been more helpful. Would definitely have another bite of this cherry!
Just returned from a week's holiday, and hope to return. Badgers Den has character, is well maintained and has a wonderful shared pool and jacuzzi. It's location is ideal for walkers, explorers of the area, and the immediate gardens are lovely.
We enjoyed Hastings old town, which has great pubs, and places to eat. Its just under 2 miles to walk the scenic route, and it's easy to get the bus back which is a short walk from the cottage. The fishermens museum is interesting for those who want to know more about the local history and the fishing.
A trip to Battle is worth it, and to visit the site of the 1066 Battle of Hastings that has an audio tour, which we found informative. Also enjoyed Camber Sands, Rye, and Eastbourne Sovereign Harbour, which if you like boats and peaceful marinas it's about 15 miles away.
However, it was great to explore and walk, but so peaceful being back at the cottage and enjoying its facitilites. As a couple with a dog, we stayed once school holidays were over, you may find it busier in holiday periods.
Chris and Erick are great hosts, and they are on hand if you need anything, otherwise you are left to enjoy! The flowers, cake, and fruit on arrival were lovely touches. We would recommend Badgers Den, particularly for couples, and dog lovers.
We have just returned from a wonderful week at Badgers Den. The setting is idyllic, the cottage has everything a family could need and the facilities are superb. We made good use of the pool and loved the wonderful gardens. The location is also ideal for exploring the wonderful East Sussex coast and countryside. Thank you to Chris and Erick for all your kind hospitality, we look forward to returning soon.
Quiet, cozy and well-equipped cottage, wonderful for dogs, not far from the beach and supermarket
