Description: Small but perfectly formed Jali is a refined Indian restaurant set within the landmark Chatsworth Hotel on the seafront at Hastings. The smart menu, which has won an AA Rosette, fuses traditional dishes with modern techniques to produce elegant dishes such as marinated prawns in tomato gravy and a rich, spicy dum biryani.

Been here a few times now and this place never lets me down, the food in this place is absolutely amazing the best indian cuisine I have ever had the pleasure of tasting. The service is first class also. Also what adds to this place is the lovely ambiance. I would highly recommend this restaurant its first class

We live in Hastings and were looking for somewhere different to go for an Indian meal. There are a number of good places in town. We had tried Jali's food from their stall at the annual seafood and wine festival (usually third weekend in September and well worth a visit) and really enjoyed it but never been to the restaurant. The choice of food was good and different from the standard three pot curry house. Service was also good with the excellent Hungarian manager talking us through the choices. They were happy for us to share a starter and dessert to get round the problem of portions sometimes being too large and will also do a doggy bag if you can't finish a dish. We started with chat which is highly recommended. This is a dish you will see a lot in India but not so often over here. The mains were also delicious and not the commonplace curries you get everywhere. My wife, who is originally from Calcutta, was very impressed. I was expecting it to be expensive as this is an upmarket restaurant but, although not cheap, I was pleasantly surprised by how reasonable the bill was for such excellent quality.

If you are looking for a bog-standard three pot curry this is probably not the place for you but if you want something a bit special with authentic Indian food then try Jali.

What a great meal I had here. Been twice now. Suberb food. Very authentic but with a fine dining twist. I would recommend most dishes but the thali is superb.

We visited Hastings for 5 days recently, primarily to check out the Foyle's War connections. We ate in a different restaurant each night. The Jali was the best. Superb food, superb service. We will definitely be back when we next visit Hastings.
