i found the roebuck a lovely little country inn and living in a very rural area myself it felt really homely. staff seemed friendly and helpful. with the rooms on the side of the building was very nice and we could park the car right outside the door.
we had dinner here before we went to a wedding reception and the menu was very pleasant and the food was very good. however we stayed a couple nights and we did not have our sheets changed or bed made and we didnt have tea or coffee facilities topped up. i would proberly stay again if i was visiting the area again because i liked the layout and the rooms were nice.

I stayed here for one night with my wife and son in the family room as part of a tour of the south coast. We booked a family room, which was spacious, clean and well appointed. Loads of room for putting the travel cot up without bashing into it.

We wanted to go into Eastbourne for the evening (fancied some fish and chips and a walk down seafront), and the landlord couldn't have been more helpul in recommending a number of places to eat and things to do. I couldn't help thinking that they were losing out on two covers by doing so, but that didn't seem to bother them.

I was pleasantly surprised with how quiet the room was, even though our windows looked out on the front car park. After 11, there was practically no noise at all.

Got up to a lovely breakfast and the landlord took the time to ask us where we had come from, what our plans were, how we had slept etc, and seemed genuinely interested, which makes a nice change.

I definitely felt that we had good value for money out of our stay, and would happily stay here again given half a chance.

Stayed here after friends wedding reception at Blackstock Barn in Hellingley, about 15 mins away. For anyone else doing the same, the taxi back to the B&B from Blackstock Barn cost £13. As previous reviewers have mentioned the rooms are to the side of the pub and are directly accessed from the outside, so we were able to get in easily at the late hour we got back.

We were in room 5, a superior room on the first floor with a Juliet balcony which I would really recommend. The room was lovely and spacious with a really big comfy bed, whitewashed beams and modern simple decor. A good quantity of tea and coffee were provided (establishments that only set out 1 tea bag are a pet hate of mine) along with two bottles of water. The ensuite bathroom has a nice big bath and powerful shower. Breakfast was a good full English with proper bacon and a decent quality sausage, it was a little too greasy for my personal taste but pretty good at soaking up my hangover! A massive basket of doorstop thick toast was also provided which was appreciated.

All in all it was a great place for what we wanted - a comfortable nights sleep and relaxed breakfast after a late night.

We stayed at the Roebuck Inn for 4 nights in August, our party consisted of 6 adults of various ages and all thought it was a lovely place to stay. The staff were very nice and accomodating. The inn has 5 rooms and we had 3 of them booked so our rooms were side by side in what looked like recently renovated rooms, the 3 smokers in our group were delighted as our rooms gave onto the parking area so they could just step outside their bedroom door to light up. There was a large menu on offer and the food was enjoyable. One downside was that the bar was very quite so we had to entertain ourselves which was fine but if you are looking for something a bit more lively then this is not the place for you. The other thing was that the vents in the bathrooms were very noisy and we could hear it going in the room next door they were that loud.

What a wondeful suprise, booked via laterooms and didn't really expect much; but the welcome was warm, as was the room which was clean, very comfortable, plasma screen TV. Locals were also welcoming, and the food was superb.

Well done all, i will be back, probably with the family

Rooms clean airy, food excellent and freshly prepared. Although this is a B&B, the service is superb, and far superior to other hotels I have stayed at locally.
