In a fabulous location in the lovely village of Lewes. We stayed here as I was competing in the Brighton Marathon 2014.

It's hard for an old hotel like this to compete with the premier inns etc however the character is 2nd to none and we can't fault our stay. Breakfast was delivered to the room on the sunday morning pre race (outside of breakfast time) high five all round for this. We had a room on the top floor ( you couldn't be on this floor if you struggled with your knees) however there was a pretentious party of students in attendance in the function room sat eve who amused us by there antics in the bar but created a lot of noise upon leaving and we got that full on as they dispersed but that can't really be blamed on the hotel.

The hotel could do with an injection of cash, some fresh carpets up the stairs and some general DIY to compete with the chains however for the purpose of our stay we couldn't complain we used the pool and steam room and breakfast on Monday was ok. Our room was fine, fairly basic with a standard 70's armitage suite, towels could of been a bit fluffier and the gym bloke a bit more friendly but I'm splitting feathers we didn't pay a fortune and we had everything we wanted.

If you want somewhere to get some kip and a great location then you can't go far wrong!

We have just returned from a two night break and had an excellent stay. Booking in was fast and efficient and our bags were carried up to our room which was over the pool . I had two swims and the water was lovely and warm . Both our three course dinner and breakfast were first rate. Like others I don't understand why some people have complained. It's welcoming, friendly, great food and facilities and excellent location. We would stay again

Having organised a walking weekend for a group of 26, staying at the White Hart, I read the preceding reviews with a measure of concern, in spite of noticing an improving trend. We booked well in advance to secure an excellent deal with all of us accommodated in the old part of the hotel. Yes, the decor is tired and the hotel is in need of refurbishment, but the service was good and the manager was in attendance throughout our stay ensuring that we were well looked after.

Room Tip: Request a room in the old part of the hotel as the best reviews tend to be from those accommodated there.

Spent two nights in room 25 not the best sleep as the bed lay at the same slope as the floor. That was our only complaint as the hotel was full of character and we found the staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast was more than enough and the conservatory restaurant bright and well run.
A little over priced for a B&B but if you used the spa and pool then it would be ok. or you could try and get a better deal from the manager.

Room Tip: Avoid room 25
